  • No, that's what we've got Republicans for.
  • Absolutely!!
  • Well, let's look at the facts: 1) Obama is a liberal. 2) All liberals obviously want to destroy the US dollar and kill the Economy. Ergo, Obama wants to destroy the US dollar and kill the Economy. QED! I don't see any holes in that logic! I mean, it's right there in black and white!!! Wake up, America! . (pssssst... sarcasm)
  • I think The Republicans already did a swell job at that!
  • Maybe. Maybe not. If so, it doesn't matter, because if it wasn't him, it would be someone else.
  • lol...lol... very bloody hard to destroy something that was already screwed and hung out to dry by the mighty Republicans!
  • Not sure how much Obama has to do with it himself as the drastic increase in the money supply started last year, but the games we are playing with our currency will not end well. We are playing with fire by increasing the monetary base as drastically as we have (see the chart attached to this answer). We DOUBLED the amount of money in circulation by April this year, we are on track to double it again by that time next year if not before, this cannot but cause inflation. Also the debt monetization game we're playing is a bad sign (Fed purchasing Treasuries), this happens when our creditors no longer are confident in our ability to pay back the debt or fear we will pay it back with currency so inflated as to be effectively worthless. The central bank's purchasing of bonds does nothing but kill confidence further as all they need do is print yet more money, making our creditors' fears a reality and encouraging them to dump the dollar denominated assets they already hold. Additionally, a number of oil producing countries are now seriously considering unpegging from the dollar and going with the euro or perhaps even the Chinese yuan as the games we are playing with the dollar make them worry about its stability, if this happens I expect things to get very ugly very quickly, all of these will lead to at a minimum inflation similar to what we had in the '70s and at worst hyperinflation. It remains to be seen but I think it will be something to rival that which Hungary went through shortly after WW2. The only thing that is presently keeping this nightmare from happening is the dollar is still the world's reserve currency, should it be dropped in favor of another currency or a new global currency adopted as the UN would like then the consequences of this game will overtake us rapidly. Even if the talking heads are correct and the economy is starting to recover, and the oil producers decide not to dump the dollar, with the amount we have increased the money supply by we will have some nasty inflation and it will hobble any recovery. Hopefully I am wrong about all this but I rather doubt it.
  • Probably. It's hard for Presidents to deviate from Congressional quagmire.
  • The actual government budget looks quite interesting in regard to the economic situation of the USA. And until now we just had a very little crisis which will probably increase. It will be interesting to see where the Dollar will arrive in one or two years. I do not think that Mr.Obama can do much against this development. But I think for sure it is that the tax payers and citizens of the USA will have to pay for that. We will have a very interesting time in the next months and years. We just need a little turmoil on the oil and energy market and then there will be endless fun. Perhaps Obama is following the ideas of his generals and starts a new campaign against Pakistan. All the war machineries cost a hell of money and at some day people pay the bill.
  • It already died, the worst he can do is kick the corpse.
  • If you need a lesson in politics..take a look at my state, California..which is governed from top to bottom by democrats ( don't tell me about the governor being a Republican, he is ineffective against the legislature and..he is a liberal). They have ruined the state with taxes and give away programs. The same thing happened in Detroit..dems there have ruined the city. Get a grip..if you want to save the economy..throw the dems out!
  • Yes he can I hear everyone is selling dollars which means all those dollars will end up here and we will be hyper inflated. I wouldn't listen to Moongrim much he is big on insult but light on facts or knowledge of how the US system works much like Nancy Pelosi.
  • Have no clue yet. Mr. Obama is deviating a lot from what we used to believe in. America is loosing the credibility with many countries. I think president is struggling and not injecting any confidence in people. He is sort of airing false ideas and promises and no result shown yet.
  • Pretty much yes. Personally, I feel that Obama is not President material and never should have been elected. Had the people who elected him, done their homework, he wouldn't be President. He simply cannot handle the responsibility because he doesn't have the wherewithal to run a country. His arrogance coupled with his "you had better listen and do as I say or else" attitude will destroy this country. Many of his fellow Democrats are rebuking and turning against him. That in itself should tell you something. The Presidential office is not the place to play the game of hit and miss or let's try this. Either you have a solid, well thought out, and proven plan to put this country back on it's feet, before you run for President, or you shouldn't run at all. Unfortunately, we are now saddled with 4 years of Obamanomics and it's always the people that have to carry that saddle and the huge burden that's tied to it. The politicians make the mistakes and we the people pay for them. And they wonder why America is in the mess that we are. Just my opinion of course.
  • The question is if McCain would have made better and if he had better ideas. But until now Obama was promising a lot and he can speak smart but in fact he did not do much. It is hard to say and hard to find out where he wants to go. But from a certain point he will have to start ruling.
  • If Obama were president for four terms he couldn't have wrecked the economy the was the neo-cons did. He hasn't even been there a year. Don't be so overly critical.
  • I think you should not forget that Obama was overtaking a real mess which was caused by George W.Bush and his buddies within 8 years. How can he change the whole mess within a few months? I just would like to know what Mr.George W.Bush and his buddies left back as their heritage which was only a little bit reasonable?
  • Will doing that get him re-elected? No? Then I bet it's not his goal.
  • do i think that his intent is to destroy the dollar and kill the economy? no, that's not his intent! . in the last 8 years in which w and cheney were president, the us incurred an increase in national deficit from $5 trillion to $11.8 trillion, or a total of $6.8 trillion. that's more than double. so, yes, i agree with you about "even more" being a valid point. the us economy is in shambles! . in the past 12 months, w gave banks $3 trillion through the fed and $2 trillion through treasury and several hundred billion to americans. that helped, i believe. but, on january 21st, 2009, president obama faced a nasty economic crisis. . free trade agreements signed under w have cost the us economy millions of businesses and many millions of jobs. whenever a president inherits a 7 year average deficit of $925 billion each year, it suggests to me that: (1) either w wasn't paying attention or cared, (2) spending was too high, or (3) taxes were too low. i believe that all 3 were true. . the democrats in congress introduced a pay-as-you-go bill in congress. that should have been introduced by republicans 6 years ago. but, it wasn't. is now the right time for the democrats to be introducing balanced budget requirements? they've been good for us in the past. frankly, i don't know if now is the right time. we've got 10% unemployment and continuing economic collapse. we might need more spending by government to prop up the u.s. economy in the short run. . the $800 billion stimulus package has only partially, conservatively been spent. . i have seen only relatively conservative actions by the obama administration regarding economic measures. . could that change? of course. . is it likely to change? i think that what we see now is what we get. he's a brilliant man. he's an inspirational speaker. he's not pushing through gutsy agenda. . i agree with you that the economy is going to continue in its 4 year period of contraction. it started with phil graham's banking changes under clinton and continued through the dot.com bubble burst, 9-11, banking and mortgage crises, real estate crises, 2 wars under w, and economic crisis and 2 wars under bho. . i pray that we all work to improve our economy and improve our own and our neighbor's plight.
  • I think the US economy is such an immense national economy that it will recover who ever might be president. Wait a few years and you will see that the American nation has overcome that little financial and economic crisis. Americans are the most intellegent and most successful people in the world with unique capabilities and with the most capable leaders in history of mankind so that I really would wonder if the Americans would not get soon and quickly over this little disruption. All other industrial countries in the west have quite bigger problems as the USA. Look at Spain, Greece,France and Germany. Only Britain and America do not have these big problems which all other countries have. The US and British are much better off than the rest of the world. In central Europe you will only find extremely poor countries which are absolutely bankrupt. We here in Europe have almost nothing while you have in Britain and the USA anything you want.
  • I think nobody in the world ever can destroy the Dollar. The Dollar is the hardest currency mankind ever had aside of the British pound so that both currencies will stay as long as people are using money. Behind both currencies there are the strongest economies on this planet so that you will see that nothing in the world ever can do any harm against the Dollar or the British pound.
  • Obama won nobel prize for peace.
  • Absolutely.....I do not think that John McCain was a good choice for President. But Obama was such a Bad Choice, that McCain looks like the golden boy.
  • Yes; I do.
  • You got that right! 5+
  • Without a doubt he is.
  • The Dollar might be killed when China wants to have the debts paid back by the US. The US are actually the biggest debtor to other nations in the world and I wonder how and when the US want to pay back all those many billions they owe to other countries. And their war games probably just cost a lot of money. We will have a quite interesting time.
  • Yes, and he may be doing so intentionally.
  • Yeah, that is exactly what is happening. 5+
  • He's just a proactive figurehead. Don't kid yourself that his symbolic personal actions can have sustainable effect one way or the other over the long term. The US is part of a global economy subject to unregulated competitive forces. Unfortunately, the Dollar is only one of many currencies acting upon these market forces. The entire financial environment is largely unpredictable due to the complex nature of the interaction of national and international economies and economic cycles.
  • Several tricks can be played that aren't allowed here or there under liberal rule, so he's just to mess with the people.
  • Kill the economy even more? (Oh, and "economy" shouldn't be capitalized in this question unless you want to look like an illiterate moron.) . The phrase "kill the Economy (sic) even more" would presume that the economy is dead. Precisely how can a dead thing be made more dead? . I'm just curious what your response would be. Granted, only an idiot would have asked it in the first place, but I'm still interested in how you think a dead thing could be made more dead. . -5
  • i just hope people will realize the republican party and the democratic party are one and the same.
  • I dont understand why he would do that, that would undermine his reelection, I think hes taking a gamble with the stimulis money that didnt do any good in a capitalist wall street, and without new jobs created its turning into a backlash, he should have taken top economists advice earlier this year and do nothing; capitolism eats up bad business and no amount of cash flung around is going to stop it; I dont think hes out to destroy the dollar, I just think Obama and his party are that stupid, just like the last bunch that wanted a war with an already high deficit; weve got irresponsible people running this country and you cant say its from not voting because all the candidates are part of the same hipocracy.
