  • the switch is bad or it is not lined up correctly have someone sit behind the car w thw key on and slowly move the selector and see if the lights go on
  • The most likely culprit is that the electrical switch on the transmission that turns on the reverse lights when you shift into "Reverse" has failed. This is a relatively inexpensive repair, and you might even be able to change the switch yourself. Check with your local Ford dealer for the part and advice about where it's located.
