  • Very much so, the internet just propelled me into an endless void known as nerdism that I will never escape from =)
  • Yes, our first computer allowed us to e-mail people but I couldn't get on the internet because it didn't allow graphics.
  • I've always loved computers. I first used them in the early 80s at school. The first computer I used was a Wang; LOL! Do you know what that is? None of the companies I worked for had the internet until 1997, but they frowned upon you checking it out. Problem was, everybody that loved computers was checking it out and emailing things, jokes, etc to each other all the time. I thought it was so cool, I wanted one for home. In fact, that was a sore spot between me and my husband. He used to tease me and tell me that it was, get this; the devil's tool and he didn't want one! This is the same man who worked with CAD and wrote programs! Also the same guy that's sitting nearby on his notebook that he plays on whenever I'm on this computer; LOL!
  • I was into computers before the internet existed, or the pc for that matter.
  • the internet wasn't in any kind of civilian use then
  • Yes. When I got into computers there was no internet, at least not the WWW part of it.
  • Yep. I bought a Commodore 64 back in the 80's & have enjoyed computers since that time.
  • I've worked with computers for 32 years now. I didn't use the Internet until 1995.
  • My first computer had MS DOS only, and i spent hours playing Commander Keen and Pong (the only 2 things available really)
  • Outside of work...no. Back "in the day", I didn't see any reason to spend $2,000 or more on a computer that didn't do anything unless you wrote your own programs and that you had to know dos to operate. In otherwords, it didn't do cr*p for me to justify that kind of money!
  • Yes. I started my job at a computer programmer 19 years ago. Graphics were still very basic. Even simple networking was not commonplace, let alone connecting to a worldwide network. However there were BBS's.
  • HAHAHAHA!!! Broadband was being developed and laid out about the same time my sapience was beginning to crystallize and toddlerhood was ending. I've never known a life not hooked up to the grid. Soon you'll all find the grave and the question will be obsolete! Victory is mine!!!! :p
  • Yeah I've been into computers since I was a kid. I still remember being in awe of how quickly a computer with a hard drive could boot into DOS compared to all I'd known before, which were systems with 2 floppy drives. Got into BBS's soon after.
  • I bought my first computer ( a 486!!! ) back in, as I recall, 1989. So I've had a computer for at least 20 years. I didn't first logon to the Internet until about a year later.
  • Yes. My first computer was a Commodore 64 and nobody that I knew talked about the Internet at that time. I used it to write some programs in Basic and for games. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commodore_64
  • I built my first DOS PC in 1990. Never heard of the Internet when I did it.
  • Bought mine in 1980 and it was several years latter when I started visiting BBS's (bulletin boards) That latter turned into connecting directly to other main frame computers... very expensive in long distance phone calls. Modem was 300 baud !!!!!!!!!!!
