  • I think it has little to no effect on modern dance styles. Ballroom dance is very ridged and seeks a certain stylized perfection with little or no room for variance from form. Modern dance styles encompass a variety of interpretations based on a much looser structure. Modern dance form springs more from ethnic influences with an American Afro/jazz base and Ballroom dance is more rooted in traditional European forms stemming back from the minuet. True you have ethnic folk dance like the Tango as part of Ballroom, but it is danced through the guise of of a ridged standard of performance perfection that is not a part of street/modern dance.
