A car goes by every, oh, half hour or so annoying me greatly. During rush hour it's much, much worse - several cars per hour.

Not much. We live in a cul-de-sac about 2 blocks from anything that could be considered a 'major' road. At the moment, all I hear are birds. The neighbor's dogs are asleep. Long night.

I live right by a fire deparment so we know when the trucks leave haha

I live in a culdesac so I don't get any traffic noises. +5

-
Very little. Sometimes I hear the train whistle, like right now. I love the sound of that.
-
No much but it increased when Wal*Mart opened 1 mile away, now far more cars and trucks drive through the closest main road to get there.
-
I live less than a mile from two major highways (US 13 and US 50), so I can always hear cars in the distance when I go outside. It's not much though, just the faint, droning sound of cars.
-
Nin-no I have a privet drive and live in the country.
-
None, it's just a quiet country road. Maybe on the weekends we'll hear a few cars and motorcycle go by if it's nice weather, but even that is unusual.
-
a lot.
-
Very little. We live on a quiet street.
-
Barely any

There's a busy street nearby, so it's quite noisy. But it's way better here then our previous place, where with the open window we couldn't hear TV, and if it was raining, we were not able to hear each other.
-
Not much. All you ever hear around my place is farm tractors if you hear anything.
-
None. Two highways, each a mile away.
-
Not too much.
-
I live a block from an important road, so the noise drifts over.
-
I live in London so there is quite a bit, but there are trees and houses around which muffles it. Just a dull distant sounding drone at night time, which is soothing for me =)
-

I experienced all different kinds of surrounding sounds during my 71 years. Trains in the distance passing by when I was little...traffic while living in New York City...horny frogs, crickets, jarflies calling to any takers at night at my home on the lake in North Carolina...the sounds of ocean right out my door here in Florida. Fortunately, I've always had the capacity for quickly adjust to such sounds so that it did not disturb my sleep. I seem to just stop hearing them. There were sounds that did distress me a great deal years ago when I lived in an apartment in NYC, however...they were the sounds of couples arguing, fighting, throwing stuff, beating, crying, screaming. These were awful sounds that I had to remove myself from. Cops would come and I would hear the woman to beg them to go away! Some I would see all lovey-dovey the next day! Such is beyond my comprehension! But it made me understand that so-called "domestic violence" cases are among the most difficult for the police authorities to handle. Sorry to end on such a sour note, AB. +5
