Bling-bling does refer to jewelry, diamonds in particular. Nobody really says bling-bling anymore though, just bling. " Jason and Jinx just got engaged, check out the bling he put on her finger"

Lmao. All valid definitions, but its the book's definition :) "Bling Bling" is the term those in the hip hop community use when referring to anything that shines when it hits a certain angle of light. The diamond/gold/platinum twinkles in the light, creating the singsong "bling bling" in one's head almost instantaneously. This term was popularized during the late 90's during which a rapper, who goes by the name Lil Wayne (Weezy F. Baby, sometimes) said it in a rather famous song. The innovator that he is, Lil Wayne also coined the term "Drop It Like It's Hot," which was a huge hit during the year 2004 when rapper Snoop Dogg and his friend Pharrell Williams sang "drop it like it's hot" as the hook of the song. The cd went plantinum. Hope that answers your question ;)

Bling Bling" is a 1999 hit hip-hop song by The B.G., featuring his Cash Money Records labelmates Juvenile, Lil' Wayne, Turk, Baby, and Mannie Fresh. The song, and its many follow-ups from the label, popularized a hip hop slang term which refers to expensive jewelry and other accoutrements.
