  • The ecomomy was bad when Obama wasn't president
  • NO THAT'S BS IT WAS BAD B4 HE CAME AROUND
  • Considering that the economy has been bad since before he became president, I don't think so. Besides, I don't even know if he's been in office long enough to have that much of an effect on anything.
  • that was before he was president
  • Well, it's not his FAULT but he certainly isn't helping matters.
  • Not significantly yet. However, I believe that, 'if allowed to stand', his programs are going to have a SEVERLY devastating effect not only on the current generation, but on our children's, AND on our grand-children's. These incredibly huge & irresponsible 'bills' will come due, & will have to be paid. (remember: 'the Government' NEVER 'pays' ---- the people do!!).
  • No. The bad economy is mostly the fault of greedy banks who made bad mortage loans to people who couldn't afford to pay them back becauase they thought (mistakenly) that real estate prices would keep rising and so there would be no risk to them when the loans failed. But then real estate prices fell, so when the loans went bad, the banks couldn't get their money back by foreclosing. And everything went from bad to worse from there...
  • I don't see how a Jr. Senator from Illinois could have caused all this. W, yes. Cheney, yes. Their neo-con buddies, yes.
  • No, I don't think the impossible. Why would I?
  • he deffinantly isnt helping on some of it but he is on other portions actually the debt really started to pile up during clintons predincey they allready proved that it was there but didnt help the second bush got the war spending on top of it so in the long run its all their damn fault not just one of them
  • I would say the Cheney/Bush combo were a great part of it by fooling the country into war and occupation of Iraq. The cost is staggering but mysteriously absent from the media.
  • Not Really.
  • lol...lol... NO !!!, the real fault is the ex Government for not putting the brakes on the unfetted greed of Banks, Big Corporations and shareholders who demanded megga profits year after year after year .
  • Well considering that he came into office during the recession, how can it really be his fault? Now, not being a citizen of america, i'm not fully sure of what he is doing now, but it is doubtfull that he can be fully condoned. And in addition, there is a world wide recession at the moment. Everywhere is being hit with a bad economy.
  • Your question says "partly". To that I say YES! Totally No - Partly Yes! Bush went overboard along with congress with their spending and wasting of our money! Bush and congress forgot what it meant to be "conservative"! Bush looked like a democrat the last 4 years he was in office. Obama came in running! HUGE spending Bigger than ever! So yes it is partly his fault!
  • I dont no what hes done for yours but hes gona fuck up my(Irish) economy big time with the corperation tax then since we live off american bussiness!!!
  • I don't think so, he's been in office a little over 100 days. It started way before he the lead.
  • How would that even be possible? He inhereted the bad economy from Bush. It wasn't even Bush's fault. The bad economy doesn't just affect the US. It is a global crisis which needs global action. Arguably, Bush exacerbated the situation with his rediculous spending of tax payers money to fund his hobbies, but that really just affects the US' ability to get over the crisis. He didn't start it. Obama and the financial advisors are doing what they can.
  • The recession had its beginnings in America when Bush was President - Obama took office when the effects were beginning to be felt. But the whole 'toxic assets' business that started the whole thing had been building up for years.
  • You cant even begin a discussion like this without pointing to a 3 trillion dollar lost war and 1 trillion dollars in bailouts both spear-headed by W, with the American people as the funders. Obama is the only one who would/could stamp his name on this challenge.
  • Not really, he hasn't been in office that long enough to influence the economy much. Anyway, the economy seems to be trending upwards these last few weeks - due in some small measure by the economic stimulus package they say. So with all things considered the President seems to be doing a reasonable job here - and I have no problem with it.
  • How could it be. It began to slide years before he was elected? And it started crashing before he took office.
  • yes he totally caused what was happening before he took office, just as fdr was the reason for the great depression
  • No, it's way to early for him to have had any impact. Economics works slowly, very much so for long term and significant impact; this mess actually comes from things started in the 70's and little has been done by any administration or any party to stop it.
  • No I think it is Bush's fault. I doubt Obama will have any positive effect on the economy.
  • Sure. The guy took over 3 months ago and already all the ills of the world are his fault. Let's not mention what was done in the 8 years prior to his taking over or that may tamper your theory
  • Both Bush and Obama believe in increased government spending. Big government only continues to get bigger. That scares the heck out of corporate America, and small business-- which are the only two entities that can solve the current economic crisis. Private enterprise is the answer, and should be left alone-- without government intervention.
  • No, but I think what he's doing is going to make things worse.
  • No I dont because our economy was horrible way before Obama was even elected into office. Why would you think it was "Partly" his fault when back in 2001 Bush was the one who screwed the USA up? If he wouldent have accused some man who lived in Iran at the time of having "Weapons of Mass Distruction" we wouldent be in this perdiciment! So no, I DO NOT think its "Partly" his fault.
  • Considering the economy was pretty much in the crapper long before the election? No, I don't see how it could be.
  • Who cares if it is partly Obama's fault?...I mean honestly. The question should be.Can he help change the economy around?...I know what I think.I even have an idea of what the answer is.Fact is I dont think for one minute that he can help.Why?...Thats easy to answer.Borrowing money means you had to get it from someone that is going to want it back with interest.I dont think that is going to be too much help.He could have cut certain government spending by 17-25%.Borrowed a little less.THEN put it into the projects that have been listed now.Perhaps the combo MIGHT have helped. Is My opinion.Doesnt make it right or wrong.Just Mine.
  • No, but he surely isn't helping by digging the hole deeper either with all of these stimulus package plans. It's just one way for the government to clench its hands around America's corporations and choke out the American people in the long run. Because when it's all said and done our government will own us completely and you can kiss our democratic society good by.
  • ... and the other politicians he conspired with that won't be born for another 10 years!
