My wife used to stash money in her bible, then frget it was there. She would find it a few months later when she was depressed or stressed out and go to her bible for comfort.

When I was a kid, inside of a broken frosty the snowman snow cone maker. My Mom thought is was junk and tossed it out.

When i was a child i used to keep money hidden in the cassette drawer in my radio :). Then whenever someone in the house borrowed the radio to listen to tapes they got a nice surprise. =[

Personally, the Chinese stock market. That was a bad investment for me. A related anecdote: A friend of mine was going to buy a car in Detroit. He took a fat wad of cash with him, but, being nervous about pickpockets, held the cash in his hand, of course. He was early to meet the seller, so he decided to walk over to the corner store and browse some magazines, found out he lost track of time. When he met with the guy, he realized that he had left his cash on the magazine rack at the corner store. Defying all odds, it was still there when he got back.
