  • Jam on brakes
  • speed up, slow down, hit the brakes....it varies.
  • Change lane
  • "Turn on my parking lights." It works, if they aren't asleep!
  • I slow rigggggggggghhhhhhhtttttttt down
  • I wish I could slam on the brakes, but I have a nice car.
  • Depends on what mood I'm in on that particular day. I might calmly move over and let the a$$hole by. I may slow down to a crawl and really make them have a coronary. I may lightly tap the brake or I may just totally stomp the brake pedal into the floorboard.
  • If I'm on a highway, I slow down and hope they pass me. On a one lane road, I will pull over and let the ass pass.
  • slow down until they back off if that dont work.....reverse
  • I'll tap my brakes real quick like to scare them and to back off - if not, then I will piss them off by going slower and slower until they go around me - then I smile at them like nothing is wrong!
  • I burry my foot in the firewall. If they hit you then they're just going to pay for it b/c they were following too close behind. I usually give them a warning and tap my breaks, this will either let make them back off or ride your ass more. In which case well you know what happens. Some people may not want to go through the hassle, but you could save someone else the trouble b/c this person is obviously going to do it to other people and those people may have children in the car which is scary. I'll let them learn their lesson. Odds are if they have to pay for their impatience they won't do it again.
  • I flip up the rearview up and ignore them, once they see that they havent bothered you, they usually go around.
  • I try to stay cool and not let it upset me. I then think 10 minutes ahead. What does this fu**head matter 2 me? And ten minutes goes by and I am where I need 2 be. Not in Jail. And this is when I am feeling good! When Im not I slow down fast. And I want to destroy the punk a$$. Kinda 2 extremes, but thats my life.
  • It depends whether I'm in a car or not.
  • Being that I am obviously 'slower traffic' I keep to the right as is expected, whether I move over a lane on the freeway or pull over to the shoulder on a two lane road.
  • Slowly!
  • I go slower, and slower, and slower, etc. ... because, I'm always in the slow lane, doing the speed limit, so they basically have no right to ride my bumper, (not that they have a right to, anyway).
  • I tend to slow down and fantasize about a back window neon light that says get off my ass!
  • I'm not a pokey driver, so I ignore them. They can go around or they can learn patience.
  • It's called offensive and defensive driving. If I'm on the freeway, I'll hit my brakes and send them a wake up call. If it's in the city, I will purposely block them in so they can't drive like a mad man/woman.
  • I usually yell in the car..only if I am alone...lol and say ..."get off my a**"....lol
  • go about 2 miles an hour
  • Slow down a bit more just to spite them.
  • slow down or hit the breaks! nothing pisses me off more than some asshole riding my bumper.
  • If on a one lane road pull over, I'd rather have that then him ridding my ass the whole time.
  • If I'm doing the speed limit, I just ignore them and keep going at my own speed. If I'm daydreaming and below the speed limit I will speed it up a bit.
  • if im driving in a built up area i tend to slow right down to piss them off. but for some reason if its not a built up area i drive faster to get away from them.
  • If it continues for a little while I will pull over and let them pass
  • I do hate tail gating. If I can move over I will but if I am doing the speed limit they will just have to stay where they are . I tend to have a bit of a heavy foot on a Motorway but I would never try to push another person to go faster if they were on the limit. Those that sit in the fast lane and are about 30 miles under the limit can be pretty annoying
  • Speed up and see if they back off or not. Then if not, I will go slower than I was on purpose.
  • Sometimes I tap on my brakes, at others I change lanes (usually I am in the correct lane, left for passing, right for cruising). If the jerk persists, I have hit the breaks a little harder, once or twice I have hit them quite hard. So far no one has pulled out a gun. I suppose I am lucky.
  • I just had this done to me through a windy mountain road where you are not allowed to overtake, and there were cars in front of me and we were travelling the same speed, i don't know why they were following so close. I just flipped my rear vision mirror so that i could not see them and then they were flashing their lights, when we got into town the police were on the side of the road so they backed right off. There are some crazy fools out there and it is best to stay away from them, or let them overtake if you can.
  • I drive slower.
  • i wait for a hill and slow down going up the hill. they usually pass. if not i get off at the next exit. sometimes they follow me off the exit, so i will pull over and let them pass.
  • Keep jamming hard on the brakes every so often. They will get tired of it and get the message.
  • I antagonize them. My car has go-power, so if its a two lane road, I like to ease off the gas until they go to pass, let them get almost along side me, and then stomp it and leave them in the dust. Its also fun alternating between going faster and slower than someone in the lane next to you so that Mr. Anxious behind you switches lanes every ten seconds trying to get around one of you.
  • Aware! I would think he is looking for roadrage.
  • Slam on the brakes.
  • i will pull over and let him go past me .!!
  • Grind to a slow halt!
  • I just go about my way and ignore them.
  • :) :) I live and drive in Bombay. Here if we are not driving bumper to bumper its a miracle. If someone was too far away from me I would have serious doubts about his/her driving abilities as in our traffic conditions leaving too much space between cars is a crime. :)
  • I don't do anything. I just let them because by reacting instead of responding you are bound for a confrontation, I carry a concealed weapons permit, the gun is always on me so I avoid any type of road rage conflict.
  • I will just slow done make the next turn and let them pass and go.
  • I pull over and let them pass when safe to do so. They're obviously in a hurry, whereas I'm not. I refuse to let anyone push me into going faster. I've taken a life in a car accident and I'll do everything I possibly can to avoid having that happen again. BTW, for those who say they'd slam on the brakes, if it can be proven(not sure exactly how that'd happen, but it's been proven before) that you did that on purpose, you would be at fault and your rates would go up. I have, before, turned on my headlights so it looked like my brake lights were coming on. This works only in the daytime on the older model cars that don't have that little brake light in the middle of the roof. Wow! 157 points for a Q asked just 17 hours ago. Nice job!!!
  • The last time that happened,I had my camera in the car and took pictures of my tailgater when we stopped at a light.I ended up with a bunch of photos of a strange woman and her friend with their mouths hanging open. She didn't follow so close after the light changed.lol!
  • I'll keep a steady speed until we reach a part of the road where it's not possible to overtake, then slow down a lot. If they are being really annoying then I'll put on the rear fog lights.
  • 1)roll down window. 2)make a loose fist 3)place a penny on your left thumbnail(as if preparing for a coin flip) 4)launch the penny upwards and slightly to the rear. 5)repeat as needed
  • If you speed up they will do likewise. So I have developed a surefire way of making them keep a safe distance, and all I do is press my hazard warning light on and off once. Touching your own brakes could cause them to rear end you.The driver behind literally shit themselves and it works every time. However I always make sure in my mirror that nobody is tailgating them.
  • I like to tap the brakes and let them know I'm still in front of them. ;)
  • GET OUT OF MY BUTT YOU BIG MEANY!!!! :P
  • I give the windshield washer a few pulls. If they are too close the wind/ forward motion will take the cleaner back onto their windshield. That is usually enough of a hint that they are too close. They usually back off or pass.
  • If there are any puddles on the road, I'll aim right for 'em and give them a good splash. Or, I'll also drive on the slush from snow, that really makes a mess on their car......they usually back off quickly. If not, I give my brakes a "light tap".
  • let the buttmunch go around if you can - also, if you have insurance, make sure your seatbelt is on and tap on the brakes for about a mile or two LOL let him eat your bumper
  • I check to be certain I'm doing the speed limit first. If I'm going over the speed limit, I slow down to the speed limit.
  • well it really Depends on what mood I'm in! but if usely im the one doing it lol i speed alot!! but if someone is doing it to me ill speed up! but if im in a pickin mood ill slow down just to piss them off, that waht ppl do to me! lol but if the person trys to pass me ill speed up and stay next to a car so there no way the person can pass! lol
  • Stomp on the brakes and hope they have insurance.
  • i slow my vehicle for his overtake
  • slam on the brakes to scare them i bet they back up
  • I don't.
  • Dunno, Never had that problem. Slow down until so bad, even Miss Daisy would be swearing me!
  • flip them off..if they don't understand that i just slam on my breaks
  • In one of three ways: Usually I pull over and let the idiot pass. At other times I tap the brakes. AND at other times when we get to a light I open the window and holler, "Hey, you wanna drive this one, too?" Thanks for asking your Q! I did my best to answer it. I hope the information helps. • I ignore them. My cruise control is set to the current speed limit, they can just deal.
  • I slow down to let them pass, I don't like being the "leader of the pack". But having said that, sometimes I am in bad mood so I slow down until they are about to pass me then I speed up just to piss them off. Have a great day Chief Wanbli.
  • I drive faster and if they can keep up and still want to get past, I let them.
  • I usually pull over to the side and let them go ahead of me.
  • I turn on my parking lights momentarily and if that doesn't work, I just ignore them because I don't want to wake them.
  • Ignor them. I just leave enough room in front of me so I have room to stop. If they hit me thats what insurance is for. I ahve a front and rear facing camera in case of accident it will save the last 3 minutes of footage. It will either save you or hang you.
  • It depends. If I am in a good mood, I'll speed up or let them pass me. If I'm in a bad mood, I slow down and listen to the lovely sound of angry beeping. :)
  • If they are in that much of a hurry, I'll pull over and let them pass. If they get caught speeding, they are the ones that will have to answer for it in court.
  • what I like to do in an instance like this cuz it really ticks the other driver off and its just funny too, you start to slow way down very very s-l-o-w-l-y and its best to do it in a no-passing zone too and when they get the chance to pass you, flipping you off as they go by, this is where I blow kisses and wave. They hate that.
  • I brake check them. haha
  • It makes me want to drive slower just to make them mad! I always drive over the speed limit so if someone is on my tail they have issues!
  • I keep on driving at my normal speed. But I make sure the idiot driver sees me staring at him in my rear view mirror to somewhat remind him to keep his distance from me. If he doesn't get the message, I tap on the brakes lightly. If that still doesn't work, I slow down without pulling over;if he overtakes, it's good. If he doesn't, then I ready my Smith and Wesson. (This is on wide open roads, where no one has a reason to tail gate another motorist unless they are up to something no good.)
  • I take my foot off the gas and hope they noticed that we're going slower. Most of the time they go around.
  • If it's a two lane road, I will make sure I'm in the RH lane and let them pass. If they STILL are behind me and don't pass, I will ease up on the gas until they pass me. If I'm on a one lane road, I will make sure that I am driving at least the speed limit. If they still are crowding me, I will ease up on the gas and pull over as much as possible in order to let them pass.
  • if it's more than one lane, why dont you move over. remember the law, keep to the right except when passing if it's one lane take your left hand off the wheel open your window and flip the bird
  • That depends on what type of car they are driving, who's in the car with me and if there is anyone in front of me...I'd slam on brakes and collect my money!!!! Just Kidding. Seriously, I'd switch lanes.
  • There is another option of putting your right arm on the passenger seat on flicking them off casually, 9 times out of 10 they get the point. By casually I mean raising it and lowering it a few times until they retreat.
  • If its in the daytime, speed up a little, wait till he's right on your ass, then switch your lights on. It will look like you're braking!
  • If I'm in the Mustang I don't have that problem.
  • Hit the brakes really suddenly!
  • stik my finger out and tell them to F off
  • I slow down to where they pass me up, then I do the same thing to them, only closer & faster, I slam my hand down on the horn for like 10 seconds & flash my headlights at them till they speed of in another direction. (I'm serious, I actually do it.)
  • i slow down so it pisses them off
  • It's the law in most states. Slower trafic keep right. If you read every drivers hand book. In every state that is what you will see. Some states give out tickets for this. so if you hang out there. You are endangering yourself and others
  • I used to just ignore the person behind me, but really you should look and see who it is and determine if its an emergency, they might be legitimatley trying to go around for a reason, pregnant, heart attack, severed member, something? best thing to do when driving is leave your emotions out and drive responsibly, know whats going on around you; I at least pull over and let the a****le pass, if they wont then they can eat my bumper for a while
  • Ahh tailgating!! How annoying! You can press your break lights quickly three times in succession so they'll get the hint. Although if they're idiots just slow the pace down a bit and pull over and let them past if you can. Don't quicken your pace up!! You don't want to get in an accident because of them. I usually try and ignore people if I can't pull over and remain at the pace I'm happy with. At the end of the day if they run into the back of you, it's their fault.
  • well with me, it varies because i speed every time im driving so its hard for any1 to ride me. but sometimes you mite catch me where im going the speed limit and if they do i may press the brakes repeatedly to tell them to back off alil, if that don't work i speed up and go fast then come to a complete stop and just sit there for a minute. lol.
  • speed up ?
  • WINDSHIELD WASHER FLUID. Squirt the shit out of them, if they are close enough they will see your love on their windshield. If they are far enough away, they won't.
  • Pull over.
  • As a trucker I get tailgated daily. I don't like it at all. I usually slow down, they usually get the message..
  • Fire the retro rockets.
  • on the street, ill slow down to piss them off. let them go around.
  • check my speed and move over
  • I used to tap my brakes, and then slow down, but I recently heard that this is considered dangerous these days because of road rage...I still tap my brakes sometimes, but the best thing to do is let them pass, because then the idiot is not your problem anymore.
  • i just stomp on the brake and because in australia if someone behind you hits the rear of your car they have to pay for the damage so i stop and sadly they have never hit me, except for one learner driver they scrapped the back of my dads car.
  • I usually try to let them around me. I always wonder if they are in a hurry because of an emergency. Maybe they are rushing to the hospital before a loved one dies, perhaps they overslept and are late to work. Whatever the reason, I've been in a hurry before and tailgated. Rather than be a burden and make things worse, help the person out and reduce your stress level by avoiding the mentality of having to "get even".
