  • no, they just made some bad choices
  • Not bad people. They can be "stupid" for making the choice of taking drugs. But if they quit, I'm sure they would be normal and kind. Drugs are poison to the brain. It can make you a bad person. But if your just avoid them, they are quite harmless.
  • Not necessarily. They are ill, and make poor decisions.
  • They can be,...just like all people. I think the drugs make them more prone to violent crime, but I cant generalize a whole group of people because they do drugs. I feel sorry for drug addicts. Addictions are hard to kick. I think I'm a good person, and I was addicted to cocaine for a few years.
  • Not ALL drug addicts are bad people. Some are, some aren't. Just like some teachers don't care that their students are the future of this country while some teachers know it and honor their career title because of it. Way of the world. Some drug addicts became that way based on the sole fact that drugs are just that- addictive.
  • Penningtons answer can serve as an introduction to these comments. He is an authority that speaks sensibly. ANSWER: They did not start out as bad people, but you decide. They break laws. Have self-destructive habits. Hurt innocent others. Do bad things. An active addict is not necessarily a bad person, but they very well may be involved in a bad lifestyle. I'd prefer to think they are "good people", but this stretches the definition a lot. When they clean up, then they have the capacity to "do good." I hope many will clean up. Judging someone as "good or bad" is so subjective, I'll just stick by judging people by their behavior. EX-drug addicts have an opportunity to be as "good" as they wish. Often, they are the most ardent proponents of avoiding and drug use.
  • Just like sober people some are bad people, some are good people. Good people with a bad problem.
  • No not at first, but after becoming hooked on a drug it can turn them into at bad person, and they sometimes begin lieing to their friends, stealing, and turn into a completely different person. We cant blame the drug for them being this way because the drug didn't choose them to take it they chose it, but after they choose to get help for their addictions they normally turn out to be better people than they were before.
  • just because you are not a bad person does not mean that you are a good person, but no I don't think drugs define who you are as a person but they can impair you judgement and cause you to make more bad choices
  • Not necessarily. They can be good people who made bad choices.
  • no, i'm one my self. and ive never been called a bad person, ive just made some bad choices.
  • Not necessarily, they need help that is for sure. If they break the law to obtain money for drugs then yes they are bad, but still need help.
  • Yes, from the standpoint of their addiction. Addicted to drugs leads to a person commiting crimes, in order to feed their habit. one hand surfices for the other. Basically, i believe drug addicts are good people that bave gone bad. Once you are hooked, you are hooked. very few people have sucessfully stopped the drug habit. out of the 100's i have sent to rehab., only one has become entirely drug free...almost 20 years now. A real case in point is a baby born of an addicted mother. this child did not come into the world as a bad person, simply, its mother was a drug addict and passed the addiction to the baby.
  • No. But that isn't to mean they all are good either. They're people just like us. Some bad, some good. Most of the drug kids I know are pretty calm and collected. I know one of them is absolutely wonderful if you ignore the fact that he does drugs and drinks and parties. His dad just doesn't give him a chance and everyone takes him for a trouble maker. He does better and tried harder than I do in school and in life. Him and one of the other ones have older brothers and that's part of the reason they are into that kind of things. The other one is really nice too. Quiet kid. I guess it depends on your definition of bad.
  • being a drug addict does not make you a bad person, it's what being a drug addict will make you do that makes you a bad person.
  • no everyone makes bad choices in there life not like they wanted to be drug addicts when they grew up
  • Na, they're just sad blokes that need some lovin'.
  • Some No not to begin with but the demon can turn even the best people bad ... once it has it's hold on you
  • drug addicts aren't bad people, it's the drugs that can make them do bad things though like lying, stealing.....
  • Lots of people are saying that drug addicts were good originally, but the drug makes them a bad person. I believe that the drug acts as a mask to the addict. When you're talking to him/her, you're really talking to the drug.
  • Some are and some are not. We all have our problems and weaknesses.
  • I'm not - I can't speak for others...
  • they can be but once a drug addict allways a drug addict i know a guy that went thriough treatmen about 3 years agoe and every now and then he stil gets cravings. it never leaves you. but he is sthe best guy in the world.
  • no,but they should stop taking drugs.
  • Some are...I have never been addicted but I know people who were/are. They are not bad people, they have just made bad choices.
  • No one on earth starts off as a bad person, Society, religion, up-bringing and so on can force or lead us into life style less appealing to the "normal" people out there (if there is such a thing). Drug addicts, well addicts in general are humans too, judgement and sensable reasoning can be clouded due to what is being put into their bodies. As for being bad people? NO, they are just confused, lost and dependant so to say.
  • I don't think they are any worse than non addicts but their decisions are worse.
  • No, addicts are sick people who need treatment - arresting them does no good. Treating use as a crime makes little sense to me. ¤ ¤ Why jail our sick people with pedophiles and murderers?
  • Yes. Kinda. Well it depends on what you would consider a bad person. I don't consider drugs and petty crime bad. So I would say they aren't. I'm a drug addict. And I'm a good person, except for hustling, selling drugs, and crime. But I wouldn't consider any of those things bad. Murder is bad, rape is bad. Drug addicts are just different. We're not like regular people. Our minds work differently. So being different makes us bad? I don't think so.
  • usually never. they were probably in a tough time in thier life and thought it would help. it posseses you. you arent yourself anymore
  • Depends what drug you’re addicted to, and what the reaction to withdrawal is. All drug addicts hurt those around them with there addiction. When I was cut off from my vicodin, I did it for a bet; I ended up punching my best friend in the mouth and wanted to kill everyone. But I am not a bad person. I became an addict, not by choice, but by circumstance. I don’t think that drug addicts are bad people even if they refuse to quit… I’m never going to, but instead their people who make bad choices, or just unfortunate victims of circumstance.
  • I was addicted to heroin a few years ago and i did some bad things but i'm not a bad person. the drugs take over and you can't function without them ,so you do whatever is needed to get them.
  • If you say anyone is "bad" you are saying that God doesn't know what he's doing. Addiction is a DISEASE. If you were a diabetic and you had a low blood sugar and wrecked you car noone would say that you are a bad person for having a low blood sugar. If anything you were just being irresponsible for not controlling your diabetes. The same thing is true with addiction. You can't help it that you are an addict but at the same time you have to be responsible for the illness so that you can survive. I was on drugs for 10 years. By the grace of God I have been sober for 18 months. I never aspired to be a drug addict. I merely tooked drugs that were prescribed to me by my doctor. Please have compassion with anyone you know is having a problem with drugs or alcohol. A lot of these people believe that the only way out is death. I know this feeling.
  • no man, they can be like any one but they dont have to be,some off em just had a hurt time, ya digg. i do drugs, cause my dad been in jail since i was 2 and im 21 now, and mom woudnt watch me,and grandparents watched me and my grandpa died and no one was there for me, i got better for a long time, but when my fience left for one my friends, some of my best friends who do it but are great guys, told me u need somethin to get u right man, i do it cause its a way to cope with shit, i dont no but i dont think that makes a bad person just a person thats made bad choices,
  • No, people are people.
  • No. In fact I'd even feel bad saying that they are merely unfortunate souls which have accidentally slipped into some questionable social cracks. (No pun intended.) Many of them are very smart and know what's good or bad for them, and whatever reason they take drugs for I'm sure can't be any worse then what a lot of other different people do, like beat their wives or set fire to places. I do feel that a lot of young people get pressured to do it and that's just unfortunate that they can't see any other alternatives other then drugs for what they might feel lacks in their life or whatever it is that makes them succumb to this pressure, which can be a lot of things. So no, it doesn't make them bad people. The bad ones are the ones selling the drugs, knowing full well that the people to whom they sell it to might face grave life changing consequences. I'm not talking about people selling it on street corners, but more about those who smuggle the drugs and have a whole organization behind it, like Mafias. The same kinda people who organize prostitution rings. Point is there are different reasons why people get into drugs and keep doing them, not all of them are stupid or bad, it's a decision, and one you only realize fully once you have some experience with drugs, unfortunately, like just about everything else in life.
  • Saying a drug addict is a bad person for using drugs is like saying a starving person is bad for eating.
  • I'm not really the most fair or nonjudgemental person to talk about this subject. I've been on the receiving end of a drug addicts actions and I'm not exactly rational about it, but here are my feelings. Sometimes yes. The phrase people use is "drugs make people do bad things". That may be true, but I have to ask, what happens when a drug addict has been an addict for years with no desire to quit when it negatively affects others lives? Where do the drugs stop and the person begin? Heres my situation. Before I moved out, my mother was a prescription pill addict for about 4 years. Whenever we had money she was high, spending upwards of 500 to a grand a month on these pills. The only time she was straight was when she had spent her cash on pills and had nothing to spend. However during this week or so out of the month, she was a fucking insane cunt of a woman, either because of withdrawal, or because she's just a naturally bithey woman. Maybe a mix of the two. I moved out to get out of the situation. I couldn't, and wouldn't handle it anymore. In reality, I think drug addicts are just incredibly selfish people, willing to do anything and hurt anyone to get their fix. I have no respect for them, and wouldn't give a drug addict the time of day. Fuck em.
  • Drug addicts are all kinds of different people. The "BAD" is the addiction. The addiction only cares about only itself, seeks only to continue fulfilling its need. When a person has a strong addiction, the person who once occupied that body is taken over by the addiction and the body consists of mostly a seething addiction.
