  • sounds offensive to me but i guess it will depend on where the source is of the term. who or what organization described him as that. if it was the kkk then its offensive, if not... you know what i mean?
  • This is the first time I have heard it it doesnt offend me, but I dont see why they need to say it. Why are they calling him that? It is extremely immature and racist.
  • I will not listen to it, the name alone is offensive.
  • Yes I find it offensive, whether it's parody or not. It's ridiculing people and I don't like that at all.
  • I think it is funny as hell! He is exercising his freedom of speech! I don't like a lot of things people say so you know what I do? I don't listen!
  • Yes, I do, for a number of reasons. What would Republicans think of the song, "Bush the Witless Whitey"?
  • It's offensive that the GOP actually thinks that way in a very non-funny fashion. Even if it WERE funny, it isn't because they actually MEAN it.
  • I find it offensive on the grounds that people should stop their petty bullshit, their sore-loser type crying, and their hillbilly hatred and support the freakin future president. Stop hiding behind 'free-speech' and have some respect and decency. America chose him, if you dont like it then leave or shut up, because no one wants to hear it any more.
  • It's about a 4th-grade level of humor. People who don’t see that it's inapropriate or insulting must be woefully ignorant (which is irresponsible for any American to be on the subject of race), willfully ignorant (worse than irresponsible), or borderline (or worse) ridiculing of "Negroes".
  • Offensive. Period. I am as liberal as they come but... That really broke my heart that some people can play that fast and loose with the rules of that kind of thing. No respect. I am from the school of thought that are certain things that you can and cannot say and I believe that was truly offensive and meant to be so.
  • Yes, it's offensive but not completely unexpected. Troubles, rumors, scandals have bounced, slid and skidded off him amazingly....Barack the Magic Politician - might work a bit better though.
  • Completely offensive, but I can't say I'm very surprised that someone did such a thing. They can claim "free speech" all they want, but it's nothing but ignorant, hateful, juvenile crap!
  • Wow, that is pretty deeply offensive, and the man is clearly a racist. Now, do I say this because he said the word "negro" and that's not politically correct? No, this has nothing to do with what is PC or not, this has everything to do with how it was uttered. He's using the word in a derogatory manner, and trying to use it to devalue the human being. And the other songs...Star Spanglish Banner? It's conceivable that a blatant racist could get the job, but someone that stupid? Yes, good job alienating more potential voters. Still, you have to give credit where credit is due and I tip my hat off to this man for being such a colossal idiot and managing to live this long. You'd figure that, being this moronic, he'd forget which pedal was the gas and which one was the break, or that the stove is hot, or that knives are sharp, or that he cannot actually fly if he were to try to jump out of a building. Really quite impressive.
  • Who cares my people are dead father was murdered in this life time and my kids are dead move on there's nothing to see here.
  • Just more anti-Obama people comming up with new ways of attacks.
  • I think it's silly, especially in light of the fact "The Magic Negro" terminology was popularized by Spike Lee ages ago. The magical negro (sometimes called the mystical negro or magic negro) is a supporting, often mystical stock character in fiction who, by use of special insight or powers, helps the white protagonist get out of trouble. The word negro, now considered by many as archaic and offensive, is used intentionally to suggest that the archetype is a racist throwback, an update of the "Sambo" and "savage other" stereotypes. Spike Lee popularized the term, deriding the archetype of the "super-duper magical negro" in 2001 while discussing films with students at Washington State University and at Yale University. I sincerely think that Mr. Obama, his supporters and his staff are going to have to grow a thicker skin if they are going to survive the next 4 years.
  • The Young Turks weigh in: -
  • Yes. That is very offensive.
  • This is ridiculous. It just reminds of middle school calling each other names. Don't get me wrong, it was definitely meant in a derogatory way, but are you going to tell me that those words are more offensive than war? Poverty? Bailouts for the rich? If Obama can actually lead humans, not just Americans, to a world without hunger, war, strife, etc. then I will worry about what people are calling him. But at the moment, it's just as childish to be offended by it as saying it.
  • Yea i seen this quite awhile back when it first came out, and yes i think its very offensive and very stupid, i cant believe they actually put this out, honestly its about as stupid as it gets, this only promotes hate.
  • not at all. its a good song, its supposed to be funny, not to be taken so seriously. rush has a new one out where barack is singing bout his health care reform.
  • It would help if they could keep their facts straight for once. As they all too often keep reminding us- he's not 100% black.
  • Since those words are directed to him, I believe he's better qualified than anybody to give an answer to that question. And if he says he feels offended by it, then would need to take into account and respect how he feels about it. We cannot--or should not--attempt to rationalize how someone should or shouldn't feel about what he or she might perceive as offensive. For example, if somebody call me a nigger and I make a stiff complain to that person, I would not accept from this or any other person the rationalization such as: "Well, buttman, you [should not] feel offended with that word because after all, that's what many of you call each other." If I say I'm offended, the only explanation I would accept from that individual is in a form of an apology or he would need to see the dentist.
  • Are you referring to the LA Times article that called him that??
  • There are always going to be knuckle heads that think they are funny producing crap like that and there will be people that think it's hilarious. It's ugly part of the the world we live in. I find it more offensive that the media actually gives this POS airtime!
  • If black comedians can make fun of white people, why can't the Republicans?
  • I personally don't understand what the big deal is and it has nothing to do with the color of his skin. What it has to do with is the lack of experience he has had and how he or anybody else thought that it made him qualified to be President? It also makes me curious to know who is behind the scenes. The shot Caller?
  • first, let me say that after lincoln, i've never held out so much hope, nor has there been so much promise for greatness, than from president obama. i volunteered, donated, and voted. the song is demeaning and insulting. on the other hand, "puff the magic dragon" was one of my favorite songs as a kid. humor in politics is important. clever ways of disguising meanness in humor isn't wanted. so, yes, i find this offensive.
