The entire purpose of businesses is to make money. Profit maximization is actually best for the entire economy, though, not just for the company itself. You can call it greed, I'll call it free market economics.

It's what happens when you make the very most money out of a product that you can. Greed on the consumers part, YOUR part, yes. Greed on the company's part? No, only marketing.

No. They are different. For instance, a greedy person may be penny wise but pound foolish and therefore fail to maximize profits.

When you get your paycheck from work, do you feel greedy for accepting it? Aren't you trying to maximize profits (by working hard, acquiring more education, not spending recklessly)? As long as you're being honest and ethical, there is no shame in earning as much as you can.
