  • ask him
  • Cause you ain't having sex with him. If you did, you could get away with anything
  • It's just the nature of most business owners and managers. It all boils down to money- the person/people on top want to earn as big of a profit as possible. One way to do this is to push every employee to the limit to get as much work out of him/her as possible while paying him/her the least amount of money possible. The manager is probably doing the same thing to you that kids do to their parents: seeing how far they can push you break. If you continue to meet their demands and don't say anything about it they will keep pushing. Chances are if you said, "Hey, this is enough. I can't work this many hours without compensation," they will ease up on you a bit. Don't hold me to that, though. You might just have a devil-boss who will toss you out the door! On the bright side, it probably means that your boss thinks you are a good worker. On the down side, you will probably get burned out on the job and become unhappy.
  • If you are on salary, it would be expected that you do your work no matter how long it takes. HOWEVER, if you are compensated on an hourly basis, you should expect to be compensated. Check your local Labor Department rules! You may have a case!
  • Apparently your employer has classified your position as "exempt" meaning exempt from overtime. According to FLSA (Fair Labor Standards Act) this can only be done if you are a manager or supervisor with employees and less than half of your hours are spent doing "employee" work. If you don't fit this category at all, you need to talk to your boss and explain that the law requires him to pay you overtime over 40 hours per week. If he doesn't comply, then you need to call the labor board. However, if you do this, you probably won't have to worry about this for long, as your boss will probably find some reason to fire you.
  • If you are on a salary, then you probably won't get extra compensation i know that because i am on a salary and i work about 50 hours a week and only get paid for 40. it really sucks and i sometimes work most weekends too and don't get paid for them.It really sucks.
  • It sounds like your place needs to be unionized. Unions protect the interests of the worker and will not allow the employer to take advantage of the workers.Unions are the backbone of the country and should be encouraged in all workplaces.
