Daijoubu means in English "are you ok" or 'ok'. It is Japanese and the characters for this are 大丈夫. Dai means large/big. Jou and Bu can be separated but their meanings then get lost. Joubu could mean, hero, gentleman, good health, strong, solid. Combine them all to mean big strong solid gentleman or hero. It is usually asked as a question, Are you fully strong, are you stable/solid and in good health?
