  • Yes, some are if children are not monitored who watch or play them. With adults, that is their decision.
  • No. If they're violent then why are they still being made and played. Its up to parents to decide wether or not there child could play them. Like right now im playing grand theft auto san andreas.
  • No. Games/movies are not too violent in my opinion...Although, it does depend on who's going to play/watch them..That's what the rating system is for..Like what Painful Ginsu said, it's up to the parents to decide what's appropriate for their kids..But in general, video games and movies are not too violent for me..
  • No. I think that's a convenient excuse from a society that can't manage to control its children properly. The prime example would be the way the Columbine massacres were blamed on Marilyn Manson (despite the fact the perpetrators never actually listened to Manson's music). Despite the fact many, many, many people listen to Marilyn Manson and are perfectly well-adjusted and lovely people. It was easier to point the finger at a random rock star in eyeliner than to address problems such as school relationships, parenting, access to firearms, so on... I believe that TV and other media should reflect reality. Reality is violent and nasty at times, we can't pretend that it doesn't happen. What we see on the news every day in images from Darfur, from Basra, from Gaza, is a hundred times worse than anything I have ever seen on a video game. We can't stop children from witnessing horrible things. To shield them too much from the evil in the world is arguably more harmful than to expose them to it. What we can do is teach children about the consequences of violence, the ultimate futility of it, help them to understand the dynamic behind it. I also think that violent computer games are in many ways a good outlet for violent impulses. If a teenage boy is feeling angry its better that he goes and wrecks a few buildings nd kills a few people in the virtual world of Grand Theft Auto or thrashes around a bit to Black Sabbath than he goes out and takes out his rage on a real person. As long as there is parental input about the proper way to behave in society, I don't think that violence in entertainment is as big a problem as a lot of people like to claim.
  • Video games yes, some of them they have gone quite violent. I believe that kids should be monitored in choosing video games to buy and what TV they watch. I am not sure TV has got much more violent though, being adults we cn choose what we watch on TV and what video games we buy at least.

Most of the movies and TV shows today would not have been allowed past the censors of the 1930s through the 1950s. The old "B" westerns of the 1930s and 40s were about as violent as they got but those in the movies who committed crimes were brought to justice. most TV program shows carried a moral ending. I am glad I grew up in the 1930s through the 1950s. We just do not have TV shows such as Ed Sullivan, Jack Benny, and Red Skelton. People found TV shows such as Little House on the Prairie, and the Walton's boring because they were not "action" shows not violent enough. Video games such as Pac Man rapidly became violent beyond imagination. I miss movies with Fred Astaire, and Ginger Rodgers as well as most others of that era. Who remembers laughing at HEE HAW? We will never have entertainers like those of the 30s through 60s again!
  • Yes and No. I mean some of them can get pretty violent where as others are entertaining and can actually teach you something. I agree as long as parents monitor what they watch or play its fine. Like I don't think a parent would let a Six year old child play an M Rated video game. I mean come on, they aren't going to give them that much freedom or free choice.
  • Far too violent and it is not good for children to be shown or be allowed to play these violent games. There is no glory in war and there should be no sense of accomplishment of killing or banishing an imaginary enemy. These games just numb the senses towards voilence and the youth think it is alright to be agressive ,

      So true and amen!
  • Yes, Most all the movies and TV productions so called "action shows" are way too violent and promote violence. Not only do they promote murder but also all kinds of destruction of property. Most all video games promote killing of all kinds. The world is obsessed with violence of any and all kinds laughing at the most vile and destructive scenes. Young children are very impressed about most anything they see on TV or in movies and for sure video games. What is worse is parents allow their children to see and laugh at violence but let a woman's breast be exposed or even the naked body they scream bloody murder! People are calling the bad good and the good bad as predicted two thousand years ago.
