An even bigger negative number. Think of negative numbers as steps backwards. If you have -2 plus -3, first you take two steps back, then you add 3 more steps back. Now you are -5 steps.

Depends on the numbers, but they always equal a negative number bigger than one of the digits.

A negative plus a negative equals another negative of a lLESSER value than the two addends. For example, if your checking account had -2 dollars in it, but you added another transaction of -8 dollars, you would now be at -10 dollars. -2 + -8 = - 10.

It equals a larger negative number.

A negative number MINUS a negative number will equal a number that's less negative than the minuend. E.g., -5-(-2)=-3.
