I just installed a new cd player. When I turn on the lights to the car the dashboard lights go off. When I have the lights off, the dashboard lights are fine. All of the fuses are in good shape. What could the problem

You have probably connected the Orange illumination or dimmer wire from the radio to the car. Just disconnect whichever of these you've connected. This should solve the problem. You're likely shorting out the parking light and dash illumination circuit.
