  • Built a good fence and put up a watch dog full time.Lost of habitat could be the reason coyotes are coming to your farm.
  • That's a tough one. I have more problems with bears and mountain lions than coyotes but they are only after stored grain or dog food, They don't generally bother my animals except that the animals get scared when the bears and occasional mountain lion come around. I would have to shoot a coyote as once they start coming around they wont stop. I love my cats too much to let the coyotes get them but thankfully I haven't had that problem yet. I kind of like coyotes. The wolves here are the only animals that kill for the pure joy of killing. I don't have much use for them. We had a big wolf problem for awhile but they were either shot or otherwise ran off. I haven't seen them in a couple years but hear them at night occasionally.
  • There really isn't a way to defend your livestock without killing the predator-it will just keep coming back. I suggest build a good fence and keep either a llama or a donkey in with your livestock.
  • Put out cages to trap them in, then take them up in the mountains and set them free!
  • A lot of folks around here run donkeys with their cattle to protect their calves. Donkeys pretty much hate canines on sight, and I have personal experience with that hatred. They will attack the canine and ask questions later. Since coyotes are lone hunters and rarely hunt in packs, they go elsewhere to hunt other prey when faced with a ticked off donkey coming at them full tilt.
  • Keep your pets inside when unsupervised.Alot of people near me shoot them on sight.I even see them occasionally in the subdivision where I live. They are very adaptable. There was a woman near us that had her Bull Mastiff dog attacked by two coyotes while on her daily walk.
