Not a huge lot really! The job is more about hard work, glamour and reward - which makes you wonder why people work for the lower teams ;) The guys higher up in the pit crews (lead mechanics, race engineers) start to earn decent money - but I had a friend in IT at Renault for a while, and he was only on £19k a year - so pay is certainly less than in regular society. That said - there must be 1000's of people going for single jobs in the sport - again driving down the wages.
