In addition to the fact that the number of answers submitted by users far outweighs the number of questions submitted, the standardization of questions is more important because people browse questions rather than answers. We want the questions listed in each category to be as readable and searchable as possible. Also, the style, tone and abbreviations used in an answer may help other users judge its usefulness.

I've not really noticed a big tendency lately for Answerbag to control spelling in either. Case in point: http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/97453
