I don't know how possible it is to kennel/crate a cat, but it looks like you're going to have to learn to tune him out until a more appropriate time-- till maybe he learns that mommy will feed him at 7 or 8 am and not before.

Ha ha ha... our cats do that too. They nonchalantly walk across our faces first thing in the morning - they know that if we get up that they'll soon get food... It was never a problem until we started feeding them first thing in the morning - it seems like cats can't tell time in the morning as well as in the afternoon - most likely because they sleep most of the day! The only thing that I can think of is maybe give him a bit of food just before you go to bed at night and maybe that will stop some of the whining at the door. Either that, or slowly change the amount of food you give him in the morning until it becomes just a small 'treat'. Then you can just keep a baggie of treats in your bedroom to give him in the morning without having to get out of bed! =)
