Ryu. He was the more focused student and worked much harder to improve himself. In canon fiction I beleive he was the one who finally defeated Sagat. When Ken came to visit him and sparred with him he was amazed that Ken could beat him because Ryu had relaxed on his training and Ken knew that at the top of his game Ryu could beat him most times. I can't believe I can answer this question by the way.
