Contemplative prayer in its modern context is taken as a mystical thing. Prayer was never meant to be something "mystical." I think if you are to have Scriptural contemplative prayer you will have time in the Word of God and dwelling on that you will bring your heart before God. Prayer is time for you to share your heart with God. Just speak to God as though He were standing beside you. The Bible says we can cry Abba, or Father to Him because we receive the Spirit of adoption. When we accept Jesus as our Savior we become family to God. You don't talk to family in some "mystical" way. God wants you to talk with Him as a Friend and as your Heavenly Father. When I talk to God in "contemplative prayer." I reflect on a passage from the Bible and just talk to God about it. What it means to me. I thank Him for the passage, and for giving me understanding from the passage. I ask God to help me learn from the example. And I ask Him to give me greater understanding from the Holy Spirit who illuminates Scriptures to us. Nothing mystical, just friends. God loves me as my Heavenly Father, and wants to fellowship with me. Just like He met Adam and walked in the garden with him. He wants to meet with me and walk with me. I hope that helps.
