  • I think yes! Very tacky. But at the same time - if you feel pressured to give stuff to live up to expectations (as I do), maybe it;s OK if it is unused, as new and the recipient has no way of knowing it was yours to begin with. I make hampers of biscuits and spreads that I baked/cooked and give a hamper to each family/person, and then they know I have put a lot of time and thought in - even if it wasn't expensive. You could also give vouchers for your time - ie vouchers to help different family members with different things - whatever your skills are.
  • I had a friend that used to give me old books she had collected through the year from library salews. She knew I loved them and she picked out ones that she knew would interest me. I always looked forward to that. There are things you may have that you can rejuvinate, things you can make, or things you can write. How about coupons for good deeds that you can do? Don't beat yourself up over this. People love you and understand.
  • If you gift people that know you, they know your circumstances. They should be flattered. A modest gift from a poor man is more meaningful than a generous one from a wealthy person. In this case, it is the thought that counts.
  • Yeah, tacky. Give out coupons to people for 1 hour of your time to be utilized as they please. In example: company, help with odd jobs, babysitting, shoveling snow, yard work etc... Hand draw them also. You wouldn't want any fake ones showing up around town...LOL
  • It's called 'regifting' and seems to be gaining in popularity. People receive things they don't use, don't like, have too many of etc. Of course, it shouldn't be obviously used. You know, like half a bottle of cologne or something!
