No. Religious rituals are based on spiritual belief, not medical science.

No. Everybody should do it. No circumcision is disgusting. It shouldnt have anything to do with religion, it should have something to do with health b/c your open to a lot more stds etc. then if you were circumcised..
-
That I could not say for I know nothing of that faith. If it is a ritual than it should be reserved for ones of that faith and not suggested or used by doctors at the hospital at will to others that are not of that faith. To me it is an infringement on others and I do not buy into the health reasons..

No, That is their religious belief. Circumcision is commanded in Genesis 17:10-14 as an outward sign of a man's participation in Israel's covenant with God, as well as a sign that the Jewish people will perpetuate through him. The commandment is incumbent upon both father and child - fathers must see that their sons are circumcised, and uncircumcised grown men are obligated to perform the rite. Those who are not circumcised suffer the penalty of kareit, no matter how otherwise observant they may be. Perhaps in part for this reason, circumcision is the mitzvah most likely to be observed by otherwise non-observant Jews. Circumcision is so important that it may be performed on the Sabbath or a holiday, despite prohibitions of drawing blood on those days.

Yes, I would say that it is a resilient culture and capable of change, it has survived many devastating setbacks and the people and religion continue. Their religion and culture have adjusted to the circumstances and environments around them many times, so it does show they are are capable of doing so. Judiasm has survived many catastrophies the destruction of the Temple (more that once) , the scattering (slavery) of their people (more that once) , their enslavement in Babylon, and when they lost against the & Romans their country ceased to exist for a couple of thousand years … , the Nazi’s attempt at exterminating Jewish culture/people in WWII. Jewish circumcision has already changed due to their contact with other cultures. To prevent Jews from participating in non-Jewish activities ,the Jewish leaders/Rabbis changed circumcision from a religious symbol with minor physical effects, into a more radical physical symbol , removing the entire foreskin instead of a very small piece. http://www.fisheaters.com/circumcision.html …”” The Biblical rite of circumcision, called brit milah (or brith milah or bris milah), entailed the trimming of just the very tip of the foreskin, only that amount that could be pulled down over the tip of the glans. It did not destroy the entire foreskin, it did not affect normal sexual functioning, it was not the brutal rite that baby boys undergo today.””

Yes

Well, that's a "cutting" question!
-
Circumcision prevents infections, is cleaner and a loss less smelly. I don't think anything should cut out circumcision.

Religious beliefs are our rights to the point where they infringe on the rights of others. Genital cutting constitutes a breach of the right to bodily integrity, and is recognized as a criminal offense for females under the Female Genital Mutilation Act. This act, by the way, does not stipulate the severity of the cut. For example, a pin-prick to the clitoral hood will land you in jail. Equal protection under the law must be extended to males. Read on for more information: Circumcision removes the primary area of sexually sensitivity tissue from the penis, desensitizes and roughens the glans intended by nature to be an internal organ, removes the only moving part from the penis and roughens the sexual act for both partners. We all honor the principle of bodily integrity which states that no one has a right to remove healthy (as in; normal, non-threatening, and purposeful) body parts from us without our consent. In contradiction to this self-evident principle, this highly specialized anatomical structure integral to the penis is presumably the province of social or religious custom for which the medical field and Mohels alike become the agents of those social customs. Circumcision is defined as non-therapeutic, cosmetic genital cutting (or, amputation which is the medically accurate word used by the AMA to describe circumcision) which removes between 1/3 and 2/3 or more of the penile shaft skin, comprised of healthy, functional, and in large part, highly sexually sensitive mucosal tissue, no more difficult to clean than any other body part we are fortunate to own, by the way. In the case of infant circumcision, it proceeds without the consent of the infant and without adequate pain remediation and often with no pain remediation in a surgery lasting between 5 and 15 minutes, and to an individual who has no idea how long that pain will last. His first experience with his sexual organ is one of excruciating and humiliating pain while his body, having spent 9 months tightly balled in the fetal position, is strapped spread-eagle on a Circumstraint board (or if he's lucky, at least held in the arms of his parents during the bris). The penis is diminished in its capacity to convey pleasure due to the destruction of most or all of the highly ennervated inner foreskin, frenulum, ridged band and frenular delta, along with the abundant supply of arteries and veins, not unlike the nerves and arteries supplying other erogenous areas of the body such as the lips, nipples, vulva and anus. Critical of genital cutting, lawyer Steven Svoboda explains: "Genital cutting presents a cluster of interwoven discriminations—racial, gender-based, age-based, and class-based—that violate law, human rights, and ethics." Eighty percent of the world's males are left intact and whole, as nature has provided every mammal (male *and female), on this planet. We are the last, and only first-world country who continues to engage in this ritual by cutting the (slim) majority of its infant boys (currently hovering between 50-64% depending on who you ask) for mostly non-religious reasons. It is not a uniquely Jewish mark by any means in the United States. In the opinion of a growing number of informed people, Jewish and otherwise, and according to the principles guiding current medical law, genital cutting of any kind and on either gender constitutes a criminal offense and must be outlawed. Currently only females enjoy that protection under recent (recent!) United States law. That very proposition is being discussed in Denmark, and currently every US senator has been given a proposal to do just that. For those who want to learn more, please visit NOCIRC.ORG, which features a new video discussing the anatomy, myths and human rights issues surrounding this topic. Know that as a male, while we can never regain the ten's of thousands of nerves removed, we can certainly acquire more sensitivity through a skin expansion technique known as restoration - please visit norm-uk.co.uk for more information. Judaism (as any religion) keeps its traditions because it believes they are given by a Higher Authority a.k.a. G-d. Human intellect is amazing, but not yet smart enough to outdo His infinite mind. So, we may understand a lot more about life today than we did thousands of years ago, but we are only scratching the surface. As users of the human platform, we defer to the instructions provided by the Manufacturer.

believe it or not circumcision is not just a in Judaism it has become a modern medical practice because of it's benefits in the health of men cutting down possible STDs and health problems

The word that draws attention is "outgrew". Is the assumption that the practice circumcision represents a sort of intellectual immaturity?. Because there is evidence that it has a definite health and hygiene benefit. So assuming the benefits are real, then "outgrowing" circumcision would be a digression, not an advancement. And are you asking the question specifically about Jews? Should Christians, Muslims and others who practice circumcision also grow up? +
-
Not really. They believe it is part of a covenant with God so I'm really not seeing stopping the practice as having an upside to for them. . I also don't oppose the drugs used in the rituals of various religions. . This kind of worry came from opposition to female genital mutilation - opposition I agree with as it removes the clitoris and causes bloody tearing when sex is first had. . If we continue to raise the bar on barbaric practices though, when will parents be forbidden to get their kids' ears pierced? And should people really be allowed to get tattoos, what with infections and all?

I am not going to bother trying to persuade anything here because you so are so obviously not interested in another opinion...I just wanted to say that Jews do NOT believe the child will die G-d forbid if the circumcision doesn't occur...I can't imagine where you pulled that from.
-
you are having the foreskin surgically removed by a PROFFESIONAL that is NOT mutilation...there is no hacking the child to pieces....in addition...there is nothing you arent allowd to do when it comes to the safety and health of a child...laws dont just contradict each other one law doesnt say hack up your baby while another says that nothing comes before a childs health or anyones health for that matter but a child first and formost
