Does anyone have any creepy, spooky abandoned buildings near where they live? If so, what were they?

I live a town away from a place called Waverly Hills. An old tuberculosis sanitarium. Where they put all the infected people until they died. Theyre working on reopening it I believe. Its been haunted for years. Its been on TV a bunch of times. The movie death tunnel was based on it, i think. My friend is a ghost hunter, as lame as that sounds, and went there and found some crazy stuff.

There is this one house in Wheaton, which is about 15-20 minutes away from me. It isn't abandoned, but it is castle-esque. It has always been my favorite "Halloween House" since I was a kid. The don't even do much to decorate it- at least 20 years ago they didn't, who knows what they do now. But it was just a perfect sybol of the season for me.

there's an old brick factory about a mile from our house,it's huge, we call it the pickle factory, but i don't know what it used to be. kids go in and kick stuff around, the windows are broken out and an old couple used to live in a room by the front. can you believe it? they lived in an old abandoned factory, with about 20 cats. they passed and new owners bought the place and it was full of clothes from the 70's! called it vintage and take van-loads into nyc on the weekends and sell it on the street. neat question!
