  • I worked in the IT sector myself -- for 25 years. Eight years ago I moved into the lucrative real estate sector. It was okay for a while, but you can imagine how bad the past couple of years have been. Make the leap, cross your fingers and hope for the best. Good luck to you.
  • Change is good. I say go for it :)
  • Thanks for the replies....im just worried that if things don't work out in my new job and I decide to back into IT it will look bad on my resume as I have worked as a lab tech, gone into IT and back into lab tech. I'm just worried about how i would explain that
  • There is no rule about leaving your profession, and then returning to it. The new employer is only interested in how you will fit the requirements of the job he wants you to do. Your best bet it to take as many college courses as you can (and see if your employer has a reimbursement plan) and make yourself as valuable as you can by expanding your options.
  • The thing is as I have worked in the sector I am moving to and I have the relevant experience and knowledge. I only moved into this sector as I wanted to move out of my current job as the people weren't that great and I thought I was being treated unfairly. I think I will give the new job a couple of months or so. If things don't work out I will probably go back into IT but abit more closer to home. After all I'm not a fan of travelling
