  • He will bring the downfall to wall street.
  • Until Congress gets a clue and accepts responsibility for their actions, we'll continue to have issues like this from time to time. The idea that the most highly regulated companies (those that are also quasi-governmental...Freddie Mac and Fanny Mae) could fail while under Congress's direct oversight should be a big flag. Why aren't hearings being conducted? Why aren't the people in charge of these funds being treated like those at Enron were? They should be held accountable! There should be hearings! There should be outrage. Instead, congress is very quiet about it because it's their fault. They let this happen. Congressmen should be held accountable for this but they won't be.
  • Near the end of any lame duck Presidency, an unstable stock market is the norm. This one is especially volatile because the lame duck vice-President isn't running, making for a new administration regardless of the outcome. Once the President-elect is known, the market usually settles for a while, as the once unknown is now known and the market reacts. How much would it need to lose to match the percentage loss of the great depression? Two or three thousand points or so in one day? That's about 30% from the most recent peak, right?
  • He may carry it on for Bush, but I doubt it.
  • How will he be appreciably different from Bill Clinton, under whom the economy and Wall Street boomed and the budget deficit was turned into a surplus?
  • Nah, I don't think he would have that much influence. Congress and Obama working in concert might, but not just him.
  • Let me understand your point here..Obama caused the free fall? Wow..he is way more powerful than I thought!
  • And what about a guy who says 'Economic fundamentals are strong' ?!!! This is John Mac Cain
  • Wow, so you're saying Obama brought this on? That's quite the imagination... very stretchy. No one man causes this... but usually only 1 man is blamed and that's usually either the President or Osama Bin Laden. Nope, this has been coming for years and no one believed it... it was predicted and warned by financial experts, but no one listened. Therefore it is the fault of those who failed to listen which constitute more than one man. Obama cannot be blamed for this just as McCain cannot be blamed for it.
