Yes. At the moment the human race has all its eggs in one basket. One collosal impact event, massive supervolcanic activity, snowball earth etc and we are in very serious trouble. I am not biologist but I imagine our desire to expand has been an evolutionary boon as it reduces the risk of all of the species being wiped out in one fell swoop. Space is the only place to go if we wish to maximise our chances of survival as sooner or later something will happen to the planet which will make our comfortable world very difficult for human life. Yes there are technological issues, yes we have not managed to end hunger or bring about world peace but it is really a survival matter and we can't do any of those things if we are all dead. Go and increase your chances of survival (or advance to the point where you can manage all the possible risks in which case space travel should be a doddle anyway) or stay and almost certainly be wiped out one day.

Yes. Much of the technology of today was developed FOR the space program. And there is a connection between 'free energy' and gravity control. Both of which are needed for true spaceflight, and would solve most of our biggest problems here on earth in the meantime.

We should colonize the planets and other real property that are in space. Space itself should be left for transporation purposes. It will be depressing enough being on what is at first a strange planet let alone just being really nowhere floating around avoiding any realestate. I should let you know that I have no intention personally of colonizing space so its up to your - I will help pay though. We are not going to be colonizing space. You might be colonizing space though. I'm haappier here.
