Could I be another user's sockpuppet and not know it? :O If I was a sockpuppet, who do you think would "own" me? LOL

Yes it is very possible you are and you may be owned by batboy..
scary thought indeed !

I suggest you go to the AB pharmacy ..
find a white pill in someone's bedroom
< make sure it has a line one one side of it >
Take the pill and let me know the result the morning after :)

- A sockpuppet is someone's second account that they use for trashing other users or excessive downrating. Personally, I don't know of anyone who does it, but I'm a bit naive at times.

- A proxy. Seems like a lot of work. You have to open an account and get a bunch of points to do any damage. You'd have to be pretty obsessed to do all that just to harrass someone with a weapon that doesn't affect their score, but lowers your own "+ ratings given" for everybody to see. Your average Troll runs 60% and below. It's a great identifier.

- Yes, very trollish. Data mining for personal info, phishing for a myspace page, obtaining a photo that can be photoshopped and passed aroung the net. Old school. I wouldn't think we had people like that here -- wrong age goup, no?

I've never knowingly met one. How do you know? I know it is a phony person who doesn't like you! How do you know it's that and not a brand new person who doesn't like you? Thanks, my friend. Sometimes I think I live in a bubble and am protected from bad stuff. I've never had a troll on my case either..well, if I have, I haven't noticed! :)

- Thank you..I was sucked into someone else's mud swamp last year and I avoid everything to do with sockpuppets, vendettas, group attacks, group anything..they scare the he** out of me because I was a victim of one..so I'm very wary and that is why I try to stay in the shadows..the sidelines, under the radar..some of those mud swamp people are still here..under different names...you are friendly with some of them. I avoid them when I can..so thank for you for your understanding. I want to join chains of my own volition..I don't want to be unknowingly drug into one as some example of whatever..good or bad..sorry, but it's really important. Thanks.

- I had no idea. Honestly, the last thing I would ever want to do is offend or otherwise hurt one of my most valuable friends on Answerbag. Given the recent hostility and drama, I have personally chosen to diffuse the situation with humor, so as to alleviate the sense that negativity could get us as a community downtrodden. I would never talk about another user in a negative way - and I need not bring up names at all. I only hope that you do not think less of me because I am more than happy to respect your stance. - i have asked a question about sockpuppets. I may not understand entirely. Isn't it an insult? Puppets are inanimate objects whose strings are pulled by others. So they have no brains, no heart, no nothing. When you accuse someone of being a sockpuppet, how can that be a good thing?

- I agree! But what Sixty and I were talking about was just a way to make fun of the situation... she didn't really accuse me of being your sockpuppet... I was joking around asking if I could be someone's (because on that site there were several comments about top users having sockpuppets and talking to themselves with them). It was all just to make fun of the accusations of the comments on that stupid urbandictionary site. It had nothing to do with anyone really believing I was a sock puppet or that you had a sock puppet. I really hope you understand. :(
