Clean at the top of my list. Quiet, safe rooms and caring staff. Good location
1) Be clean
2) Pleasent staff
3) a good size swimming pool
For me to consider a hotel "good," it should:
1. be clean
2. be very near great sights
3. have courteous staff
Staff ready and waiting to meet your needs. I was in tears at the last hotel I went to because I was there with my baby and all the milk/food that comes with it and there was no refrigerator in the room. They actually brought one up for me to use. It made my stay that they went to the trouble.
Cleanliness
Safe and easily accessible location
Quiet
Internet access in room
As many facilities under one roof as possible (gym, business office, restaurant, etc)
Customer service, cleanliness, nice location, nice comfortable rooms, and all in all a nice and friendly enviroment
The kind of clients or customers that frequent the hotel! The Westin!
A staff that is really focused on making your stay a pleasant one. I once stayed at a Ritz Carlton, and I think they have figured out this issue!
Quality building material and top notch carpenters to put it together.
clean
new
no bug/mice
firm bed
no carpet -- prefer hard flooring that can be sanitized
No spread on bed
everything works (TV, toilet, heat/ac, etc)
door to outside, not a hallway
competent and friendly staff
refrigerator/microwave
table/desk
reasonable check in/out times
no pets
a pool... a big one.... a hot tub... an out door exit from your room...(in case of fire).... and mostly fire proof..... nice and caring staff....( who also do what they are supposed to like following their own rules and obeying laws... connenital breakfast...( a really good one too) no snobby maids or managers.... a really good bed... and a nice shower... no leaky roofs... a/c or heater.... in a good location... and last but not least cleanliness...
: )
I love mirrors on the ceiling and everywhere else so when u do the boom boom, the reflection looks amazing. haha
A good staff who care's about their jobs & puts a full 100% into their work. Cleanliness and Friendly service will go a long way in making a good hotel. Plus the area its located at, also can make a big difference. And then last but not least is the cost per visit......
Good housekeeping.
cleanliness and good service staff who care about your needs.
Cleanliness, for sure. Affordability and comfy beds (even if everything else about the place sucks, I want a comfy bed, dang it!), too. Also a nice restaurant and good ambience/decor are good if you can get 'em :)
I think its service. I found great services at http://www.shirdihotel.in
One with a lounge.
Ambience ambience ambience. A beautifully appointed, clean room rife with flowers, beautiful comfortable funishings, overlooking a gorgeous scene and great service. Nice accesories in the bathroom like shampoo (good kind), and privacy.
Being a retiree my criteria would be affordability (most of all), cleanliness, well located (where snacks are easily available), politeness of the staff, with internet facility.
CLEAN!
refrigerator
Clean room.
Respectable staff.
Toilet and shower working properly.
Restaurant, and a bar. +5
A good hotel is not just clean facilities, but warm staff that treats you like a special person and not just another occupant in the big hotel. It means that while you are in a foreign land, you can still feel comfortable, safe and important.
"Magic fingers" on the bed.
I better explain this I guess...

Drink bar, no used condoms on the bed, flushed toilets, and room service with a smile.
Hotel with Swimming Pool, Queen/King Size Beds, with Spa, execllent service, good food

The number one above all other considerations is clean!

Thanks - safety hadn't come up before (+)

I've taken a look at some hotels that seemed unsafe to me, with doors open to the public, or windows that open to the street??? I don't think so! I appreciate security and things like fire safety. good maps inside each room to show me where the exits are in case of fire or a problem. Thumbs up for those kinds of places.

Thanks - I always make sure I know where the fire exit is and the bigger the hotel the more important it is.
