Go on the internet and there are wonderful recipes for you to try. Dry beans are the best beans to start with instead of processed/canned beans. You have to take time soaking them...there are some quick ways to do so but over night is the best (use the water they soaked in for the recipes)...

Basic Formula= Pick, by hand any bad beans, stones & debris by spreading some out on a plate. Rinse to remove dust etc.. Soak overnight to rehydrate. Rinse again & Cook. We prefer to "Pick & Rinse" then put in Pressure Cooker & boil for 15 min.. Let sit for 1 Hour & then Pressure Cook for our Pinto Beans. We also save our "Ham Bones" to add to pot. For our "Re-frieds" we put hot beans in Mixing Bowl with Jalapeno Jack Cheese & Lard, Green Peppers to taste & Mix Well!!! Slow cooking is good way as well, just "Pick" & "Rinse", throw in pot with Ham Bone, Onions,Carrots, Bay Leaf & let it go. Gotta stop, I'm gettin Hungry!!! Enjoy! John

You need to rehydrate them first by soaking them overnight before you cook them. to avoid getting gas never cook beans in the water they have been soaked in. If you do not have time to soak them overnight boil them for two minutes, then let them sit, covered, for one hour as a quick soak.Generally the water level is approximately an inch and a half above the level of the beans. That's the very basic step to rehydrate the beans before cooking. Generally I prepare my beans in a pressure cooker with onions and tomatoes but they do turn out great in a crock pot too. I found this very interesting site for you to browse. http://www.centralbean.com/cooking.html#How%20To%20Cook%20Dried I hope its useful.

We do all the time. We prefer to do the quick soak which is boil the beans in 2-3 times the water as of beans (be sure to rinse them, pick out any rocks or odd things). Bring to a boil. Boil hard for just 2 minutes. Then put on the lid and turn off the heat and let sit with NO PEEKING!!! for one hour. When you are ready to use the beans, just rinse them of their soaking water (which really helps to get rid of some of the gas producing substances) Then you can just cook them in fresh water again with aromatics like garlic, onion, carrot, spices or just plain and then use them in dishes. If you want to make something specific like baked beans or refries, it's a little different but still the basics apply:-)
