  • Yes there is. Its usualy a combination of beef and venicine.
  • No - not in the traditional Christmas mincemeat. That is because the word "meat" originally meant food of any sort. From the French "mets", which means literally "put", so "meat" was anything put on the table - any food which was prepared enough to be served up. Hence mince meat was minced food - fruit and nuts in this case. Later, the meaning of the word "meat" shifted in English to means what Chaucer would have called "flesh"
  • Not meat (see ImAlec's answer), but many mince pies do have suet in them, which is a meat derivative. Most supermarkets do a vegetarian range of mincepies that don't have suet and they usually taste exactly the same. (Yes, I spend my life reading labels.)
