  • I believe their may be some science to it, but not the ones you read in the magazine. Our universe, down to the last cell, was made with design and purpose. One thing may affect another. The wise men, if you believe the Christmas story, followed the star because it was a star of a new king. They obviously were watching the stars and reading them then. I don't partake though, as it was warned against. I think God has more intimate ways of revealing things He wants you to know than through the cosmos. And if you read something wrong, it can make cause the wonderful self fulfilling prophecy. And for whatever reason those or usually bad.
  • I used to believe in Astrology, because it seemed like it was actually predicting things for me. I studied it intensely. I memorized all the effects of the planets in various constellations, the effects of the sun signs, and I calculated ascendents, etc. But I as applied my learning, I found there were too many incorrect results. At first I thought it was because I was not yet a "master" or Astrology. But I soon realized it never worked in the first place--all the times it didn't work, I had simply ignored it. The final kick in the bucket occured almost seven years after I got into Astrology, when thanks to the Internet, I found out over thirty different scientific studies on Astrology where they tried to prove its effectiveness and failed. (Some of those studies were even set up by well-established Astrologers.) I think the reason why I believed it worked was because it's easy to apply the traits of the signs to anyone. For example, my sibling was a cancer, and cancers are supposedly given to laziness and aloofness. Well surprise! Everybody thinks their siblings are lazy sometimes. Also, everyone is lazy at some point. Another example is when I found out that Leos are very showy and ostentatious. Yet again, it took me a while to realize that most people are in fact showy--it's called being social and fun. But what about so-called "specific" predictions, such that Pisces will have problems with their feet? Well, I used to have athlete's foot, so I thought, it must be true. However, a lot of my friends had feet problem at some point, but none of them were Pisces. My mom had a planter's warts. She wasn't a pisces. I know a gemini who has a weak tendon on his heel. Feet problems, it turns out, applies to just about everyone. After my falling out with Astrology, I got into real science, where the knowledge is based on established facts, and plus, science changes itself and challenges itself constantly. Astrology stays the same, forever. (Because much of Astrology was set in stone over 2000 years ago.) I know this sounds biased, but trust me, I'm better at being objective now than ever, thanks to Astrology. It was a hard lesson learned for me.
  • Thanks for your answers guys! They were very informative. I myself, take fun in reading the horoscopes, but I do not take anything to heart that I read, and I would never decide wether my husband and I are compatable by it.
  • Interesting, this battle between 'real science' and astrology. What is real about string theory, gravity and magnetic fields. They are no more and no less than models you can use to describe patterns in nature. Peter Lemans says it best, just read: http://www.futuroception.com/Futuroception%20scientists%20versus%20astrologers.pdf Whatever you believe, just keep an open mind.
  • Nah its just a bit of fun.
