The largest turkey I ever cooked was 32lbs., we had to order it a month ahead. We were feeding 18 people, but also had to make sure there was enough for leftovers for the grandparents to take home. It was not a good bird. I have learnt that it is better to cook two small ones than one large one.

We always had one about 26 or 28 pounds each Christmas and had all the family over, usually there were about 13 but the one year there 17 and great fun.
