What is a good model sewing machine, and why?

I really love Bernina. I've had them for 30 years and even used several as a teen before that. I love the quality of their stitches, their reliability, they can sew over many thicknesses without one change in stitch. I am so in love with the knee lift of the presser foot. As a quilter and a seamstress, accuracy is so important as well as speed. The knee lift allows my hands to stay right there at all times. You can also get a used machine through their trade-in programs which helps you work your way up to a better machine if you want. I worked my way up doing that, using an older one as a trade-in and I got nearly the same amount for my older one. I've done that several times.
