  • I judge a book by its back cover.
  • Never, but I always think the way you present yourself to others will tell things about you.
  • Sometimes, but most of the time I read the summary on the back =D
  • Not exactly, but the cover gets my attention sometimes long enough for me to investigate further.
  • I do. There is some validity to judging a book by its cover. It's easy to tell the genre of book by looking at the cover (is it a romance, a thriller or fantasy). So, if I'm looking for a book about dragons and elves, I'm not going to pick up the book that has a half dressed girl in the arms of a shirtless guy.
  • I try not to but it is easy to pass a judgement without even realizing it.
  • I used to, until I read some horrible books with spiffy designs. Live and learn
  • I once bought a book solely because of its title which was: Waiting For My Cats To Die. Oddly enough, it was pretty entertaining.
  • Admittedly, yes. Sometimes.
  • No i like old dusty books I have never heard of, You find some interesting things in there you know.
  • well at first i always look at the cover and title, if it seem good ill look at the summary in the back
  • I try to treat everyone well unless they actually give me a reason to feel otherwise. Not everyone has the genetics of a cover girl or the athletic build of a sports superstar. Despite what you look like or how you might be dressed, you deserve dignity.
  • I judge books by their cracks
  • Depends on what section I'm in. :)
  • It depends... But most of the time I judge the book by its cover
  • To a certain extent, you'd be mad not to. Self preservation has a stake in the "judging a book by its cover" game. If we were to ignore our first impressions of people at times, we'd be open to danger.
  • unless they have a mullet, no. this quesion would take me all day to answer so i am going to stop there.
  • I used to, but now I've learned not to. Even though the cover seems old and rusty, and illustration is plain, ugly, or dull, it might seem the whole book is the same but it isn't. It's the content that matters, what should be judged, not the cover. I've read fabulous books, with dull covers, and at first I knew at once it was going to be boring, but once I read it, I was surprised of what the book had hidden within.
  • I do consider the possibility that what lies within is reflective of what lies without.
  • lol yeah - if there's a dragon on the front or some other type of cool fantasy picture, I want to read it! No really, I tend to read the back cover and go from there.
  • There are a few things on a book that will give you enough information to judge whether or not you'll be interested: An author you like On the O'Reilly books you know by the cover design that it is an O'Reilly book and you know it is quality. Occasionally a publisher like McSweeneys
  • 1) if I get the book as a text file it would be difficult... 2) the first that I see from a book is the cover, it certainly is a key criterium. From the cover (outside from format) I can get some key informations, such as: - title - author - editor/publisher - usually a nice cover illustration - usually (eg back cover) presentation and reviews and last but not least: - the price! 3) But normally, if possible, I look a little inside for more informations or probe reading. If I have already hear of the book, this will also influence me. 4)If everything is OK, I could eventually BUY it. But before I really make my mind about that book, I think I would at least try to READ it...
  • Nope :)
  • After reading initials ,I reach to a conclusion!
  • Well,if my first impression is not good,i hardly have any interest in it even the insides are good.. But that's something i'm trying to change..And i'm not only talking about real books
  • I guess at first for safety reasons...you always want to be leary of people who look like they may hurt you. I'm usually stand-offish, but always give people a chance.
  • Not anymore, I haven't for a long time. To be honest, I used to but then I met a guy who by looking at him, you'd be very afraid but he's a nice guy unless you piss him off
  • Yes I do...and most times I'm not wrong in doing so....theres a reason we have the word "sterotypes"
  • yes, but I keep an open mind, or at least I try. Except with tools
  • Profiling works
  • sometimes i catch myself doing so...i have to tell myself that sometimes the bright, new, shiney books are just as good as the old classics ;)
  • How would you know if anyone was being honest or not?
  • No, I never do because I'm afraid I might meet someone wonderful whose friendship I may have missed based on misconceptions. However, I trust what my intuition tells me; it seems to be fairly accurate.
  • always-its just what people do
  • Absolutely. There are millions upon millions of books and I can't read them all. I can't even look at them all.
  • No I judge it by its name.
  • no i judge by its content..........
  • I'm afraid so.
  • No. By its thickness. The thinner the better. I get sleepy when I read.
  • I'd rather judge the cover by its book!
  • i have made those judgments although i know better. i have found after reading some i thought were going to be bad they turned out to be the best ones.
  • The synopsis written at the back or inside of the book makes me decide whether I should buy it or not.
  • we all judge a book by its cover technically speaking! i mean if you were to fdancy someone from across the room...it would be for his/her looks, then you get to know then and they could turn out to be a total twat who repulses you! it is a fact that within the first 2 seconds of meeting a person we automatically make a decision aabout them which is also known as judging them, i dont think its fair that we judge a book by its cover unfortunatly there are very few people out there who dont!
  • No, sometimes we never know what's Inside the book, until we open It and read to see who that person really Is!
