Captain Swing, by Michelle Shocked.

10,000 days by Tool. The Album cover art is good, I might be able to find a better one. What makes it my favourite is the booklet with 3D glasses and a bunch of 3D images. I can't post them on and they wouldn't work on a computer screen, but if you get the chance try them out, they work well and the glasses aren't the one side red one side blue version

There are so many, I can't just pick one. But I do love The Smashing Pumpkins Adore and King Crimson's In the Court of the Crimosn King.

When I was younger, I liked to look at the covers of the Iron Maiden albums. There were hidden messages in them.
-
Many albums have caught my eye, but still the one to beat is the one on The Beatles' "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" I still see something different each time I look at it. swabby

Digital Ash In A Digital Urn by Bright Eyes. It doens't look nearly as cool if you just scan the picture in; you'd have to pick it up and get the firsthand effect. It's packaged in a "black" jewel case. From the outside, you can make out the fades of a flower. When you open it, however, there's actually a guy leaning over a toilet bowl. It sounds vulgar, but it's genius. I don't even like the album that much, but I'm keeping it for the cover art.

This. I actually bought this album for the cover art, without having heard any of the music. Funnily enough it became one of my favorite albums.

The story is that somebody within the Pink Floyd menagrie (producers, executives, etc.) wanted their next album cover to be (paraphrasing) "the least trippy thing imaginable," for reasons that Floyd fans may or may not understand. (That's something to think about while stoned.) Here is the cover to Atom Heart Mother, a great album with a few typical Floydian flaws. [edit: I noticed after I posted that you had the Animals album cover as your avatar. It just goes to show that Floyd's covers were as significant as their music.]

I am AMAZED that no one's mentioned the Virgin Kiler album. ^_^ I have two copies, but it's illegal to sell on eBay. Ah, well. My favourite has to be... Macabre's Sinister Slaughter (made to look like Sgt. Pepper's Lonley Hearts' Club Band, but all the faces are serial killers), and Fates' Warning's Awaken the Guardian.
