Carpet We love our teal carpeting. It's worn well and has stood up to countless cleanings. Walls We chose a muted gray for a touch of color without being over the top Windows A neutral shade...perhaps a light shade of gray...depends on your furniture color

well, start off with your furniture, its easier to match paint to furniture, than vise versa. Go to the paint store and check out their samples...they have pictureso f living rooms and bathroom and kitchens perfectly matched with trim and accects....chose a color palet you like then go with it. Stay neutral your going to have it along time.

Carpet should be a nice neutral color (grey or off-white?). Walls should be fun - whatever color you want. And trim (windows, baseboards, etc.) should be neutral as well (again, eggshell white). I use "should" loosely; it reflects my own ideals.

Aim for a restful feel to the room....I have to strongly disagree with this trend for light color carpets....how impractical can you get?? I prefer a deep tone for carpeting.....you can use lighter shades for walls, draperies, etc....I love the cool tones, so for me it'd be blues/purples/grays......that's about as much help as I can offer you!! LOL :D

I think people ought to get what they like. Wander around a carpet store and take note of the colors that appeal to you and pay special attention to how they make you feel. You want to feel warm, cozy, and relaxed and not agitated and uneasy. There is a science to this, but once you have gotten into the ballpark it becomes a matter of personal taste. I predict you'll be attracted to rather neutral colors that don't lock you in with regards to furniture, pictures, and so forth.

I need to ask a couple questions, What style do you like(modern, traditional, etc)? Do you have a favorite color? Are laid back or pretty upbeat?
