  • Gargle with warm salt water, get lots of rest and call your doctor if it doesn't get any better. This question is from 2004 but I just made it my goal to answer one unanswered question each time I'm on AB.
  • see a docter
  • 2004???? My, they could be DEAD by now! I can't believe no one answered this poor soul. Salt water is good for the throat, essential oils work best for the ears. Also, 'ear candles' from health food stores really help a lot (and you will be absolutely AMAZED at what they bring out!). Hope you are still on the right side of the grass!
  • Ask a pharmacist. If my kid told me these things, absent a fever, I'd recommend decongestants or menthol chest rubs. There are other methods, but these are the most common approach. The pharmacist can tell you if you need to add an antihistamine or if any medicene is appropriate given your overall health. Even OTC meds have their side effects. There are other methods, but these are the most common approach. See a pro.
  • You might want to try decongestants and see if that helps. Most likely, the ear pain is due to allergies or a cold affecting your eustachian tubes. The tubes connect your middle ear to the back of your throat and help equalize pressure in the middle ear. If you have allergies or a cold, the tubes can swell shut. If that does not help, a visit to your doctor is recommended to rule out an ear infection.
