My dog's head has bumps with black scabs. He has no hair loss or itching. What could cause this?

    He may have fleas. I do understand that you said he has no hair loss or itching, as with some dogs it is very difficult for them to reach their head, which would lead you to believe that nothing is wrong. If I were you I would scratch his head and see what his reaction is. If he yelps then the whatever is wrong with his head is hurting him and you should take him to the vet. If he starts acting like he enjoys you scratching his head then he probably has fleas or something like it and wants you to scratch his itches.

    It sounds like eczema. If so, then you should be able to get a steroid cream from the vet. Either way, you should take him in the vet.
