  • no, thats just stupid and for people who like spending a lot of money to feel superior to people in poverty
  • I would if the money was going to charity or a good cause.
  • Its a ridiculous pretentious extravagance, people would charge fortunes for water if they could get it from a secret location and bottle it in plastic made by dwarves, shme those people do not realise there are starving people that would kill for the most basic of luxuries..
  • If I were sufficiently wealthy to even consider buying bowls off gold-sprinkled ice cream, I would just buy an ounce of gold and a few gallons of the most expensive ice cream available. That would still leave a sufficient sum to have an extravagnt meal at a four-star restaurant. Much wiser purchase decision. Note: I have the mind of a wealthy individual (but not the checkbook). The "rich" SELDOM make stupid monetary decisions. The wealthy would only purchase gold-sprinkled ice cream to impress someone who will end up repaying the favor with something even more estravagant.
  • If I had personally worked and saved the money, YES. But if I were a politician, of course not. What's a 1000 dollars when we just increased our California sales tax by $5 billion.
  • Thanks for answers everyone. The Golden Opulence Sundae, the "World's most expensive sundae", was created to celebrate Serendipity's 50th Anniversary. I wouldn't ever be able to pay that much for food. I feel guilty or weird even spending more than around $15 a plate for dinner at a nicer restaurant. And price aside, I don't think the sundae even looks tempting. Though I have to admit I am curious what the edible gold would taste like. I remember using my great-grandma's gold flatware and didn't like the taste of the gold in my mouth.
  • Knowing people are starving .. I just couldn't do it. I'd give the money to a local food bank first.
  • Caution: Rats! Serendipity shut by health department BY VERONIKA BELENKAYA and BILL HUTCHINSON DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITERS Wednesday, November 21st 2007, 7:27 PM The famed upper East Side restaurant Serendipity 3 has been shut down because of some unpleasantly unexpected critters in its kitchen. Less than a week after the eatery made headlines offering a $25,000 chocolate sundae, the city Health Department shuttered its doors because of an infestation of mice and cockroaches. http://www.nydailynews.com/lifestyle/food/2007/11/16/2007-11-16_untitled__rats16m-1.html
