I have a fairly good mix in my home. A couple of Jack Vettriano prints, a soapstone sculpture from Nicaragua, a Tiffany lamp, a meditation statue - all people subjects... but we also like vintage/antique photography of things that are meaningful to us; old houses, relatives, spiritual places... I appreciate mordern art outside of my home, but I love impressionism, classics like Van Gogh, Monet, Seraut... I wish I knew more about it though.

I really like surrealist art, H.R.Giger is an amazing artist in my opinion, and i like some of the work jessica galbreth does, i love to see art in architecture and also photography and computer editing done in such a way like autumn whitehurst does :)

I don't really like either best because a lot of realistic art bores me and I don't understand/like a lot of abstract art. I just like things that catch the eye and make me think about the scene/object/whatever. I like unusual things, be it a lonely landscape or an abstract with bright colors and weird shapes.

What a great question! I think it partially depends on the aesthetics of a building’s architecture for art to work in a space. Sometimes modern art can feel and look out of place in a very old building and on rare occasions it can work. Yet, older art can work in a very modern environment. In my own home, I prefer something modern and abstract and I would love to have a portrait by Julian Opie or a Chinese ancestor portrait. If I came across a landscape or seascape that I found stunning, I would not hesitate to purchase the paintings for my home.
