You're reading What kind of art do you like best in a public place or in your own home, "modern art" that is very abstract in design, or art that is very realistically done, such as portraits, landscapes, seascapes or art with people in them?

Georges Seurat was a genius, and even though he died at age 26-26 I believe, his "Pointilism" style of painting is marvelous to see in person or even read about. There are many good books you could get at the library on art history or on the impressionists, etc. with great photos. Going to museums of course is the best way to see the art and learn.

Yes, I love visiting museums and don't do it nearly enough. I would love to get to the Metropolitan in Chicago to Seurat's work up close. I will some day. This summer my older kids and I will be visiting the Met in NYC. We hit the Guggenheim (sp) a few years ago. I support our local museum and try to get out to LA to the LACMA and the Getty whenever I can. In a couple of years I will have time to fit in some classes and will be including an art history class in the mix.

Momma_Bear, If you are going to visit the Met and would like to visit a few other museums and attractions in NYC, there is a great ticket/pass called the New York Pass, that allows you for a set price to have access to over 18 museums, zoos, Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building and more.
Here is the link.
