  • There seems to be a lot of talk and concern about health insurance, much of which comes from college students who can’t afford to buy their own insurance. They may have part time jobs that could barely keep them in Crocs and keep the keg filled. These jobs are part time, obviously, and offer no benefits, usually, besides weekly paycheck, keeping them uninsured. that is reason for concern, no doubt. College students shouldn’t have to work during the school year anyway, as it takes away from their studies. Instead of asking for Government tax money to either pay for a universal health care plan or, as some have suggested, at least pay for college students, try to digest this bulb that appeared above the head. As part of a college tuition, you get housing, food, and other non-classroom items. These are all items taken into consideration for the cost of education, put into a tuition, and billed to the student. If one gets a tuition loan, these are all bundled into the loan to be paid later. Why can not the same thing be done with health insurance? For those who choose, health insurance could be an option of tuition for college students, bundled into the total cost, and be a part of the load or grant, whichever the case may be. It could even be retroactively started at the point of high school graduation (on condition you are already accepted to a college) and could carry past graduation, into your new job, and stay active until your new jobs health insurance kicks in. Then, when you pay back the loan, you are then also paying back for the health insurance. This way, the college student is insured with no added concerns, and is still not just given to them for they would, eventually, pay for their own coverage of the past four years.
  • I like it, so long as it's optional in this case. perhaps different levels-- maybe i only need the cheap insurance that covers some standard prescriptions, maybe someone else needs something more substantive. I believe my university has set up a group for purchasing health insurance, so you can get the cheaper "buying as part of a group" rate instead of going it alone. I have insurance through my parents, but I appreciate that.
