  • the new dog will pick up all your old dogs bad behaviors, and none of the good ones. other than that, i havent noticed too much bad =) Oh yeah, you have to go though that whole dominance issue. The new dog will take a little time to find it’s position in the family pack.
  • The most important thing to do when you bring in a new puppy? Never ever neglect the older one because the new one is so cute. There will be alot of jealousy at first. Just make sure that the older one knows he/she is not being replaced or dis-placed. The new one will find it's place. Just keep the older one as the 'top dog' and don't change the way you treat him/her. I went through this myself. We had an eleven year old Eng. Springler Spaniel and brought in 2 Eng. Cocker Spaniels. Soon the older one wanted the puppy chow that the babies were getting. So, she got the puppy chow. Just make her life as important as you always did.
