  • A person being of different "race" or ethnic background does not play a part in my approval or disapproval, same thing for my spouse. It is the character of the person in question that counts. As for other folks in my family, they are entitled to their own opinion, but they know I stand firm on mine.
  • Yes I would disapprove. And yet I once came within hours of marrying a woman of a different race. I would have done, but her father put her on a plane and sent her home to her own country. He would be damned if he would have his daughter messing about with a white man! We wrote to each other for a few months, until he intercepted one of her love letters to me. I haven't heard from her in thirty years. Nonetheless, I would disapprove. Just as her father did.
