  • The landlord can not only yell at you, but both he and the tenant below you could sue you for additional damages caused AFTER you knew of the leak. Have a little consideration for the people below and your landlord. Go to the gym and shower or tough it out for a day.
  • Water damage can be more than just mopping up a wet floor. Sometimes whole sections of the wall and ceiling have to be cut open to allow the contaminated areas to dry out so they don't rot or become mildew infested.
  • You're talking about a relatively minor inconvenience to one person in the household vs. the structural integrity of the building and whatever other problems the leaking water is causing downstairs. This is assuming, of course, that the landlord is taking immediate steps to resolve the problem by either calling a plumber *right now* or starting the repairs himself. In an emergency, you have to adapt. You could also request that the landlord provide another place for you to shower temporarily, or do a sponge bath at the sink.
  • we've known about the leak for 2 YEARS... he's had plenty of time to fix it... and 2 years worth of showers and baths hasn't resulted in a complaint from downstairs until today.
  • my SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE TO GO TO A LOCAL GYM AND NOT SHOWER ANYWHERE IN YOUR HOUSE. USUALY GYM'S HAVE SHOWERS...
  • Ask your downstairs neighbor if you can use theirs? Use the sink to take a spit bath? Go to a friend's house? Go to the gym, as someone else suggested?
