We hear it over and over...but to lose weight safely I'd say the best way would be to diet and exercise. Really, be conscious of what you are eating. Don't consume alot of sweets and foods loaded with carbohydrates. Try getting smaller portions of food or try leaving a bit of it on your plate uneaten. Drink lots of water thoughout the day. It helps TONS! Plan out a weekly exercise routine. Start slow, and don't overexert yourself when you are just beginning your exercise. Running or swimming are great ways to get in shape. I play lots of pickup basketball myself which is great cardio. Well, good luck on your weightloss!

This isn't a plug, but I've found the best and most maintainable way to loose weight and get in shape is by following the sound advice found at this website. http://www.bodyforlife.com/ There are also a few books out on the market based on this plan, by Bill Phillips and other contributors. I have followed this way of eating and living for almost 8 years now. It is REALLY doable! I lost just over 50lbs within my first 12 weeks following this program. It doesn't involve any drugs or surgeries or supplements, if you don't want to take any. (Although, if you are interested in trying supplements, they give good advice on which ones to use... but be forewarned that this site is maintained by a sports supplement manufacturer, so they really only talk about their own.)

Weight lifting will add muscle that burns more calories in the long run and will help you look more supple once you lose any excess fat, but the more dense muscle will cause the scale to go up even as you slim down. Aerobic exercise will definitely help burn calories and pounds, but if you compare the amount of calories you burn before and after an hour of exercise, it is nothing compared to the calories we consume. Food management is the unfortunate answer. The key is to eat foods lower in calories that fill you up. This usually means more fiber filled foods like veggies and whole grain breads and less refined flour and sugar. The fastest approach I found that employed that tactic was Atkins. I tried Atkins (with my doctor's approval) and it worked great for me. Twenty pounds in just under 3 months. Safe and healthy. Just be sure that if you do it, you eat plenty of healthy protein (fish, chicken, etc.) and nutrient rich veggies and NOT just steak and bunless burgers, which have given the diet a bad name. I resumed eatting carbs, but by giving up the "extra" ones I don't need I've maintained my loss. If you are vegetarian, it is much harder to do, but can be done. Oh, and definitely do not try this way of eating if you are pregnant or have kidney disease as the increased protein intake would be bad for you.

Really, the only safe way to lose weight is to make healthier food choices and to add exercise to your life. There is one really great website that I've found called SparkPeople that helps you track calorie intake and exercise (calorie output) and has an option for suggested meal plans, as well as lots of sample exercises, message boards, and informational resources to help you on your way. Best of all, its free. The best part (in my opinion) is the food tracker. You put in what you eat, and it calculates the calories, fat, protein and carbs for you. It gives you a suggested range for each of these things based on your current weight, your goal weight, the amount of exercise you do, and a healthy rate of weight loss. It's a bit scary the first few times you put in your favorite foods because you see how much you've REALLY been eating! ... but its a really helpful tool. I suggest checking it out! (It's free!)

Dont eat junk food, but dont not eat. When i was loosing weight( i went from 210 to 160 back to 180 muscle.) i just ate right, no ice cream, cake, cookies, chips, soda. and i ate a lot of fruits, and diet foods. Drink water a lot instead of eating,Brush your teeth instead of eating. Work out like run, or jog, but dont push yourself. And get out and do stuff that doesnt involve food like hikes, and that kind of stuff, Its fun, cheap and good for you. In the winter you automatically gain weight, but if you run jog, hike, bike in the sumemr and eat right youll be slim in no time, and its safe.

i exercise, watch what i eat, and drink oolong tea. oolong tea has been helpful to help me shed some fats! so now i drink oolong tea twice a day. maybe you can adapt tea drinking culture. check www.teacuppa.com/oolong-tea.asp or www.dragonflytea.com for tons of tea types!
