There doesn't seem to be a lot of evidence that supports the idea that music/talking to plants helps their growth. There's not been a study done on a large enough scale to say one way or another, however. Put differently, most evidence thus far has been anecdotal. This question was tested in season 2 of the TV show "Mythbusters." Their conclusion was that the idea of sound influencing plant growth is plausible. That is, their results showed sound could influence plant growth but that more study is necessary.

I think so. My kids kill them in no time because they do not add love and talking to them. They are my babies, and they feel it for sure.

i think so, well mine seemed to, i read this story about this girl who had to do a science project to see if music helped the plants grow and she played guns n roses to them and they grow really massive! i wanted that to happen to mine, but theyr not as big as i hoped they would be :P maybe they dont like the music i play, hehe they could be chav plants, but i dnt think it helps that i pierce the leaves of the plant and put glitter glue on them, they're very pretty though :)

Think of it this way: they are living things. Just because they can't back to us, doesn't mean that they are alive. I can recall a period in my life when I broke up with my ex, the tree that I have grows leaf by leaf. The leaf that grew out in that particular time was very small and ugly, in my point of view, compared to the other large, green leaves. It wasn't completely withered, it just didn't look like it belonged. I wasn't yelling at my plant, but i was extremely depressed, and I think my plant reacted to that. So to answer the question, to acknowledge them, not even through talking, but recognizing that they're there in your space, probably makes them grow better, than just leaving it in a corner and watering it every couple of days.
