  • It's a two-way street: Due to the fact I give very detailed answers, until I get a response or comment, I don't usually rate Qs. The reason: Anyone can ask any Q. There are people who simply go to the "Needs Answers" window and award or DR points based solely on that Q. I enjoy the feedback and comments - good or not so good. Once I get the feedback I award or DR those Q. Thanks for asking your Q! I hope the information helps. VTY, Ron Berue Yes, that is my real last name! Sources: Some personal observations and opinions. • Maybe they got so caught up in answering the question that they forgot to rate it. I'm certainly guilty of doing that.
  • It use to bother me but I am now use to it. I have found that a lot of the higher level members fail to give points like they use to unless they are on your friends list. I think the reason is they have climbed to the top and now points do not matter to them much any more so they do not care if they get points and they can not be bothered to hand them out. What they fail to see is when they were new to the site and working their way to the top if those who were higher levels felt the way they do now they still be trying to gain those points. Of course it is not just the points why we are here but still the points are nice and a cheap reward, after all your question was something they wanted to answer it should be worth the points they can give. I have always given points to everyone who answered my questions unless the answer didn't even come close to trying to answer. and I have always given points to the question I answer. What I don't understand is that for those wanting points all they have to do is hit up on my questions and have an easy 6 points per question. while dropping some points my way and they get the points they are after. But you see it isn't just me many members are the same way. The goal is find those who give a lot of points per day and stay away from those who are stingy and the points will add up quick. members ask me how I can average 700-1000 points per day well I have been here awhile and I know who gives points and those who don't which pretty much is going to build mine up faster. and I usually give three times that much out to other members a day.
  • It happens all the time and I guess it's just something I've gotten over. I only ask what I care about. I will read every answer, and I will give points, usually all 6 except for a few really terrible answers where they didn't try. Or if an answer needs clarifying, I'll give a few points and when they add, I'll give the rest to be fair to those that did answer well so the best answers will more than likely rise to the top, which I also care about. I think that most people that don't give points to questions usually don't appreciate the questions but then I wonder if it was worth stopping long enough to read and answer, why wasn't it worth it to give points? But I have ceased to worry about it. It just happens, like people who ask and NEVER come by and read or point their answers. That still peeves me, unless they are new ones and may not come back to the site after one question is answered.
  • It's not about points.
  • I would rather have their input than points.
  • I think to myself "They should rate my Qs? I really don't care!" I'm not here for racing with others "who get's the most pnts, wins!", I'm just here to get my questions answered and I also love to help others.
  • The ones that usually dont points, are only here for points, they take them but never return them. Once I notice they do that every time, I stop giving that person points, when I answer their questions.
  • They just want your points and are too lazy to click just one time to give you some.
  • I follow a process in my own head and I go about the motions to keep all this in order (I have a system) I usually rate something when I get a reply... But honestly, sometimes I just forget to. And I don't believe in downrating anything so sometimes, if I otherwise would have downrated it, nothing is better than something considering.
  • Their choice, but I give you +3
  • I'm not sure how others will feel about this point of view, but when I see a question, I decide if it is a good question with thought put into the way it's worded, etc. Then I look at how many points it already has. If it has very few, I'll usually add to it as much as I can (currently +2). If it already has a ton of points, I try to decide if it really deserves that many points and may or may not decide to add more based on that. Sometimes it feels like a question has already received it's fair share and it doesn't make sense to me to keep uprating and uprating it to the point the question asker gains multiple levels over a simple question.
  • Truthfully, I don't really think about it. It happens a lot around here...12 answers and 5 points... I point every Q I answer to the limit (which is +5 for me) unless I'm all used up for them that week then I bookmark it so I can get them the following week!
  • I have no problem with them. Maybe they do not see the question as deserving points! Maybe they have their own set of rules for rating and my question does not fit. What does p me off is when I answer a question and get NO response at all from the asker. I dont care about points, but if I get a comment from the asker and no points then I remove the points I gave him/her for that question.
